The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as "TBA" does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Montgomery College's Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) is accepting applications for a Part-Time DSS Counseling Faculty/Adjunct Counselor at the Rockville campus. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.</p> <p>Disability Support Services (DSS) Office works with students with disabilities (college-wide) and promotes accessibility, equity and inclusion. This position may be eligible for telework 1 day a week. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.</p> <ul> <li>Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. * </li><li>The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as "TBA" does not constitute an assignment. </li><li>The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion. </li></ul> <p>Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Evaluates diagnostic documentation and intake information to determine eligibility for accommodations and services </li><li>Conducts initial intake interviews and maintains files to include case notes of on-going contacts </li><li>Provides academic, transfer, career and short-term personal counseling; </li><li>Provides crisis response and intervention </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication </li><li>Serves as a liaison between MC faculty, external agencies and medical/therapeutic providers and students </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or related field. </li><li>At least one year of experience providing counseling services for students with disabilities. </li><li>Experience in crisis response/intervention. </li><li>Understanding of availability and function of Assistive Technology. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the array of clinical and social issues related to disability. </li><li>Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding and application of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, as Amended, 2008 in a higher education setting </li><li>Understanding of and commitment to a community college mission </li><li>Experience working with students of culturally diverse backgrounds </li><li>Experience working as a disability specialist/counselor in higher education </li><li>American Sign Language Proficiency </li></ul> <p>For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.</p> <p>Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).</p> <p>As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire:</p> <ul> <li>Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable). </li></ul> <p>If a reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management at 240-567-5353 or HRSTM@montgomerycollege.edu.
