In fulfillment of its motto, Lux et Spes ("Light and Hope"), the College cultivates in its students the competence to think, act, and lead with courage towards creating a more just and compassionate world.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and components in various settings, including residential, academic, and administrative buildings. They will work with blueprints, diagnose issues, and use tools to fix electrical problems, ensuring safety and compliance with codes.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring (must follow National Electric Code and comply with State and local building codes). </li><li>Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. </li><li>Pulls wiring through conduit. </li><li>Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. </li><li>Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. </li><li>Connects power cables to equipment, such as an electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. </li><li>Tests the continuity of the circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. </li><li>Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. </li><li>Repairs faulty equipment or systems. </li><li>Troubleshoot and repair fire alarms, energy management systems, and card access systems. </li><li>Perform testing and maintain records for fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other in-house testing that may be performed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school or a GED is required. </li><li>At least 10 years of experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>While performing the duties of this Job, the employee could be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
