<p>Overview</p> <p>Company: Harlequin Enterprises ULC</p> <p>Job Title: Editor</p> <p>Department(s): Editorial: Park Row Books</p> <p>Reports to: Sr Dir, Editorial</p> <p>Status: Regular full time</p> <p>Location: 195 Broadway, New York, NY (hybrid model)</p> <p>Job Vacancy Status: Vacant and actively accepting applications</p> <p>The Editor for Park Row Books is responsible for soliciting, acquiring and editing manuscripts in genres such as book club fiction, upmarket women's fiction, psychological suspense, and historical fiction, as well as women's interest narrative nonfiction across a variety of categories. The Editor is a key representative for the imprint and must work closely with numerous internal departments as well as the author and agent communities. This is an exciting opportunity to cultivate a list and work with an innovative publishing team with a proven track of success.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Solicits, acquires, and edits commercial fiction and nonfiction books in accordance with the imprint's list. Categories include book club fiction, suspense, and narrative nonfiction in areas of interest to women. </li><li>Oversees books through all phases of the publishing process from acquisition to on-sale and beyond, acting as the in-house liaison with internal departments (marketing, publicity, sales, art, production, contracts, etc.) </li><li>Develops and executes a clear and commercial publishing vision for titles, including launch presentations and cover direction. </li><li>Fosters existing and new agent relationships. </li><li>Writes copy and other publication materials. </li><li>Manages metadata associated with titles and authors. </li><li>Keeps an eye on trends and develops IP book ideas with broad sales potential. </li><li>Maintains knowledge of competitive marketplace. </li><li>Acts as a key representative for the imprint both internally and externally with agents, scouts, foreign publishers, booksellers/librarians, and other publishing professionals. </li><li>Occasional attendance at conferences and fairs. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>4+ years of publishing or related experience with a proven track record of acquisition in the categories of book club fiction, psychological suspense, and narrative nonfiction. </li><li>Keen eye for commercial books with strong sales potential. </li><li>Broad list of agent contacts, with specific emphasis on those who represent categories that match the imprint's focus. </li><li>Strong communication and editorial skills. </li><li>Detail-oriented with effective organizational skills and can follow through on deadlines. </li><li>Excellent editorial and copy writing skills. </li><li>Works well with a team and in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Has a high level of creativity/innovation, and interest in IP development. </li></ul> <p>About HarperCollins Canada and Harlequin</p> <p>Harlequin is a leading publisher of commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction.
