We are looking for a compassionate, driven, and highly organized Guidance Counselor who understands that high school is a pivotal season of discovery. You aren't just a "scheduler"-you are a mentor, a listener, and a strategist. You are the professional who helps students bridge the gap between where they are and who they want to become.</p> <p>Role Summary</p> <p>As a High School Guidance Counselor, you will provide a proactive, developmental program to address the academic, career, and social-emotional needs of all students. Working in a student-centered environment, you will deliver individual and group counseling, lead classroom guidance lessons, and facilitate the college/career planning process. You will work collaboratively with families, staff, and the community to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student has a clear "flight plan" for life after graduation.</p> <p>Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Certification in School Counseling (7-12 or K-12). </li><li>Degree Requirements: Master's Degree in School Counseling or a related field, required. </li><li>The "Navigator" Mindset: You stay current on college admissions trends, FAFSA requirements, trade school pathways, and the local labor market. </li><li>Equity Champion: You are a fierce advocate for all students, ensuring that every scholar-regardless of background-has access to rigorous coursework and high-impact post-secondary opportunities. </li><li>Relational Expert: You are a skilled communicator who can de-escalate crises, build trust with teenagers, and partner effectively with parents and guardians. </li></ul> <p>Your Impact (Key Duties)</p> <ul> <li>Individualized Planning: Guide students through the creation and maintenance of their Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs), ensuring they are on track for graduation and beyond. </li><li>Social-Emotional Advocacy: Provide short-term individual counseling and responsive services to support students' mental health and well-being. </li><li>College & Career Leadership: Coordinate college fairs, scholarship applications, and career exploration events to expand students' horizons. </li><li>Collaborative Support: Serve as a key member of the Care Team and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) to identify and support students who need extra intervention. </li><li>Data-Driven Practice: Monitor student progress, attendance, and credit acquisition to provide timely, targeted support that ensures no student falls through the cracks. </li></ul> <p>Your Leadership Partners</p> <ul> <li>Primary Support: Building Principal </li><li>District Support: Director of Student Support Services, Coordinator of Support Services, and Lead Counselor </li></ul> <p>The Logistics of Your Success</p> <ul> <li>Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff (Shares the same employment terms as a Certified Teacher). </li><li>Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar (Typically includes additional "Counselor Days" per district contract). </li><li>Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and Master's level education. </li><li>Benefits: Full-time Eligibility (Medical, Dental, Vision, & PSRS/PEERS Retirement). </li></ul> <p>The FFSD Advantage: Total Rewards & Support</p> <ul> <li>Professional Growth: Access to district-provided PD focused on trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and the latest in college/career counseling. </li><li>Health & Heart: 100% district-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, plus access to our Ferg-Flor Care district health clinic. </li><li>Impactful Environment: Join a district that values counseling as a core pillar of student achievement, not an "extra" service. </li><li>Mentorship for Success: New counselors are paired with veteran mentors to help navigate the specific systems and community resources of FFSD. </li></ul> <p>Ready to help our students map out their future?
