This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in Linux, cloud platforms, and automation who is eager to grow deeper SRE and DevOps expertise while working alongside senior engineers.</p> <p>You will contribute to system automation, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident response while supporting development teams in delivering highly reliable services.</p> <p>Required Technical Skills:</p> <ul> <li> <p>3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering roles.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with Azure cloud platform (optional: AWS).</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).</p> </li><li> <p>Basic to intermediate experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Scripting skills in at least one language (Bash, Python, or similar).</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP, DNS, and load balancing concepts.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Cloud-native equivalents).</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in managing and monitoring production and non-production environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Help implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or similar.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA).</p> </li><li> <p>Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to improve system observability.</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with application development teams to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to runbooks, documentation, and operational best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with cloud resource management, cost optimization, and security best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in on-call rotations with guidance from senior SREs (as applicable).</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Exposure to SRE concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and toil reduction.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Helm, or equivalents).</p> </li><li> <p>Basic understanding of security practices, secrets management, and access controls.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience supporting production systems with uptime and performance requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Cloud certifications (optional but a plus).</p> </li></ul> <p>Primary Location Base Pay Range: Evanston, IL $75,200 - $125,500.</p> <p>If performed in Chicago, IL, the base pay range is $78,700 - $131,400.</p> <p>This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.</p> <p>We know your well-being and happiness are key to a long and successful career.
