The medical assistant works with the interdisciplinary health team in providing a wide variety of clinical, administrative and technical support functions in the delivery of healthcare in the Ketamine Infusion Unit. The Medical Assistant for the Ketamine Infusion Unit will also be cross-trained to perform the administrative responsibilities of the Patient Service Coordinator II.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>High School Diploma or Equivalent required</p> <p>Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?</p> <p>No</p> <p>Licenses and Credentials</p> <p>Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Basic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred</p> <p>Medical Assistant: Principle Duties and Responsibilities - Clinical</p> <p>Provides safe, compassionate patient care under the supervision of the Medical Director and licensed personal (RNs) working with the MA on a daily basis</p> <p>Performs all duties and responsibilities as described in the Medical Assistant position description</p> <p>Facilitates flow of patients from waiting room to infusion chairs in a timely manner as close as possible to scheduled appointment times Observes, reports and records vital signs, height and weight, pain level, and allergies as directed by the provider</p> <p>Obtains vital signs, height and weight, pain level and allergies. Documents results in the patient's record (LMR).</p> <p>Monitors vital signs on patient receiving ketamine administration as per protocol.</p> <p>Promptly informs the MD, anesthesiologist, or staff nurse of any significant change in vital signs or acute symptoms</p> <p>Conducts a brief focused assessment of the patient, including interval changes</p> <p>Performs a variety of complex patient treatments and procedures according to standard policies and procedures, these may include but are not limited to:</p> <p>Blood pressure cuff, pulse oximetry probe placement and 02 saturation measurement provides snack, blankets, ice packs, comfort items help with discharge procedures, linen change helps coordinate change in infusion schedule with MD and administrative assistant prepares forms for informed consent</p> <p>Physically prepares patients for and assists care providers with examinations and therapeutic procedures</p> <p>Instructs and assists patients while getting infusions</p> <p>Instructs patients and families for expectations in the clinic</p> <p>Participates in daily operational activities necessary for a safe patient and staff environment. Maintains JACHO standards on the unit</p> <p>Cares for medical equipment and supplies and monitors sterilization of appropriate equipment.</p> <p>Ensures patient safety</p> <p>Escorts patients from waiting area to and from treatment areas</p> <p>Rounds on patients routinely for to assist with falls prevention</p> <p>Aids patients with toileting (including escorting patients to and from bathroom to prevent patient falls)</p> <p>Assists with patient transfers (i.e. wheelchair to/from bed/stretcher; stretcher to/from bed) and bed positioning</p> <p>Provides nutritional snacks for patients as appropriate</p> <p>Collaborates with Medical Director to identify and meet learning needs</p> <p>7.1 Attends educational programs to advance knowledge and skill</p> <p>7.2 Adheres to the standards of required training</p> <p>Patient Services Coordinator II: Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Administrative</p> <p>Cross trained to provide back up for all check in and checkout functions as outlined by the MGH/MGPO Front Desk Standards and Cadence Front Desk Check In User without Registration Training Track.</p> <p>Maintains confidentiality and privacy which is consistent with HIPAA guidelines.</p> <p>Provides basic information/instructions to patients regarding Hospital and practice procedures.
