Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Students, the Director ensures diverse, equitable, and inclusive student life programming. The Director is responsible for creating, implementing, and assessing robust student life and co-curricular student experience through campus activities and events, campus-community engagement and enrichment, and student leadership development. In addition, the Director ensures all students find a sense of belonging and connection to Cheyney University beyond the classroom. The incumbent works Monday through Friday, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm with schedule adjustments to support student programming. </p> <ul> <li>Provide strategic and operational oversight of all aspects of Student Life, Engagement, and Leadership (SLEL). </li><li>Responsible for the development and implementation of SLEL programs and services that are inclusive and support a diverse student body. </li><li>Ensure that all direct and indirect SLEL programmatic efforts align with the mission and goals of the University, Student Affairs, and the department itself, directing and executing major, large-scale programs and campus-wide events as needed. </li><li>Regularly assess the impact of the department's efforts on student engagement, development, and success. </li><li>Serve as a responsible fiscal agent of the University while managing department and student groups/organizations budgets, allocating resources appropriately. </li><li>Cultivate opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with other Cheyney University departments to create mutually beneficial collaborations with the Office of Student Life, Engagement, and Leadership-specific programs and student groups/organizations. </li><li>Provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight of the Student Government Associate Association (SGA). </li><li>Cultivate leadership development opportunities for students across all campuses. </li><li>Develop, implement, and direct student life programming to support various student populations. </li><li>Effectively manage the development of a vision and mission aligned with the College's mission and vision. </li><li>Collaborate with college leaders in admission, financial aid, advising, and academics to enhance students' experience at Cheyney University. </li><li>Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach in identifying problems, creating innovative solutions, and managing projects. </li><li>Demonstrate personal and professional integrity, which communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start. </li><li>Plan, implement, and evaluate aspects of diversified campus-wide activities and programs such as Welcome Week, Service Learning, and Community Service programs. </li><li>Oversee activities of Student Greek and Social Fellowship organizations, including governance. Develop policies, procedures and constitutions that relate to campus activities. </li><li>Serve as daytime building manager for the Marcus Foster Student Alumni Center. </li><li>Lead signature annual university programs such as Mr. & Miss Cheyney University, Black History Month, Women's History Month, and other cultural Month programming. </li><li>Deliver to the Associate Dean a comprehensive summary including data of the prior year's activities and a plan for the following academic. The plan should include a data budget summary, narrative on each activity This report is due by last Friday in May of the spring semester. </li><li>Develop master campus events activities calendar. Use university channels and social media (Website, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) to develop and own marketing/outreach plans to announce and catalog student activities on campus. </li><li>Collect and report data on student involvement in evening programs and activities to assess effectiveness and promote program success. </li><li>Coordinate and manage major campus events such as Homecoming and May Weekend. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>handles sensitive issues and information with confidentiality and discretion; (2) supervises the development and implementation of programs and activities that meet the needs of commuter and residential students; (4) coordinates several succinct university programs as assigned; (5) works with the student affairs area to maintain the quality of student life on campus.</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Four (4) or more years of experience in related student affairs/activities and student leadership development. </li><li>Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Evidence of commitment to inclusive excellence. </li><li>Oversight of student affairs programming. </li><li>Knowledge of laws and regulations directly related to higher education student affairs processes, policies, and engagement. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of and a commitment to the University's mission and </li></ul> <p>decision filters and student co-curricular success.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications </li></ul> <p>(with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint presentation);</p> <ul> <li>Four or more years of experience in planning activities and promoting events. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. </li><li>Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends, as needed. </li><li>Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, employees, and external community. </li><li>Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, employees, and external community. </li><li>Skill in facilitating and modeling quality leadership and customer service orientation. </li><li>Ability to efficiently multi-task and conduct/complete independent work assignments. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, or related field </li></ul> <p>A complete online application will include the following attachments.
