<p>THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT 1 Fordham Plaza, Bronx, NY 10457</p> <p>The New York City Housing Authority is seeking a Housing Assistant for the Leased Housing Department's Bronx Client Services team. The unit is responsible for completing annual and interim reviews of household income and household composition, processing lease renewals/rent increases, and communicating with program participants and landlords.</p> <p>Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Housing Assistant's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Use HUD regulations, NYCHA policy, and procedure to review and evaluate documents to process lease renewals, annual, and interim recertifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform income verification.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete case corrections.</p> </li><li> <p>Process household updates.</p> </li><li> <p>Research and provide an accurate analysis of case activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze and resolve income discrepancies.</p> </li><li> <p>Process lease renewal requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and process payment adjustments.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to information requests, emails, and correspondence.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure timely delivery of responses to inquiries.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify and escalate case and system issues for immediate follow-up.</p> </li><li> <p>Report system issues and suggest enhancements to improve operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>NOTE: IF THIS APPOINTMENT IS MADE ON A PROVISIONAL/TEMPORARY BASIS PURSUANT TO 65 OF THE NYS CIVIL SERVICE LAW, NO TENURE OR PERMANENCE ACCRUES TO AN INCUMBENT IN THIS POSITION BY VIRTUE OF SUCH APPOINTMENT.</p> <p>NOTE: This position is open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program. However, employees applying to this location via the Automated Transfer List System (ATLS) must reapply to this vacancy posting to be considered for this position.</p> </li><li> <p>Employees applying for transfer, promotional, title or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).</p> </li></ol> <p>NYCHA provides benefits that include a choice of medical coverage plans, deferred compensation plans and a defined pension benefit plan as a member of the New York City Employees</p> <p>Please read this posting carefully to make certain you meet the minimum qualification requirements before applying to this position.</p> <p>HOUSING ASSISTANT (HA) - 80201</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or</p> <p>An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems; or</p> <p>A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or</p> <p>A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.</p> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ol> <li>Knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program and related compliance functions, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") rules and regulations 2. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and other database systems. 3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 4. Excellent detail-orientation and follow-up skills. 5. Excellent time management skills 6. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment 7. Ability to navigate online databases 8. Excellent customer service skills, including proper business phone and email etiquette 9.
