<p>Job Title: Dean of Curriculum & Instruction</p> <p>Department: Curriculum & Instruction</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Location: Leahy Middle School</p> <p>Welcome to Lawrence Public Schools</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is committed to ensuring that ALL students successfully master the content and skills necessary to graduate from high school, college, and/or career ready. These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction will be responsible for overseeing the curricular and instructional programming for the school. This will include: directly managing the school's instructional program; supporting the management of instructional staff by providing regular feedback to teachers on their effectiveness in meeting the needs of the school's instructional program; and designing and delivering professional development to push the strength and impact of the instructional program.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee ELA and Math curriculum development and student assessment-related systems </li><li>Set up groups for the Intervention Blocks and Acceleration Academies, targeting school priorities </li><li>Set weekly instructional goals for teachers and design an observation schedule to provide feedback on teachers' progress in meeting those goals; </li><li>Observe teachers daily, conducting formal as well as informal observations. </li><li>Provide ongoing feedback to teachers on instructional delivery and structure substantive feedback for more significant areas of growth </li><li>Meet with teachers weekly to plan units, examine assessments and student data, and </li></ul> <p>provide feedback on instruction and curriculum design</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to all staff member's evaluations and attend evaluation meetings with instructional staff </li><li>Participate in daily instructional and cultural walkthroughs with the Principal </li><li>Manage special education and ELL programs, working with the SPED, ELL and core academic teachers </li></ul> <p>to design inclusion, monitor the effectiveness of inclusion, and provide feedback and support to create a high quality inclusion program</p> <ul> <li>Develop and lead instructional professional development </li><li>Implement effective internal assessment systems to monitor academic progress of students throughout the year </li><li>Implement and oversee systems for data analysis of all internal and external assessments </li><li>Seek and share curriculum and best practices across grades and with schools in LPS </li><li>Attend ELA and Math Coaches' Meetings </li><li>Serve as a productive member of the school's Leadership Team </li><li>Serve as a productive member of the school's community </li><li>Do whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheld. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deep knowledge of ELA/Math curriculum, assessment design, and data-driven instruction </li><li>Strong instructional coaching skills, including teacher observation, feedback, and evaluation </li><li>Ability to analyze student data and implement targeted interventions and acceleration strategies </li><li>Experience designing and leading professional development and collaborative teacher planning </li><li>Ability to build and manage inclusive programs for SPED and ELL students </li><li>Strong leadership and organizational skills to implement school-wide systems and drive instructional improvement </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>At least 5 years of work experience including substantial experience both in teaching and instructional leadership roles </li><li>Demonstrated efficacy in raising academic achievement for low-income students in the classroom </li><li>Experience working in a high-performing school organization or other entrepreneurial environment strongly preferred </li><li>Master's Degree or Higher </li><li>Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal (PK-8) or Supervisor/Director License </li><li>Belief that every student should be held to the highest academic and behavioral expectations. </li><li>Understanding that a structured environment is essential for learning. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
