<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Institution Complaint Examiner is responsible for the administration of investigations and resolution of inmate complaints in accordance with the Wisconsin Administrative Code, resolving inmate complaints pertaining to institution rules, policies, practices, and individual staff actions from institution residents.</p> <p>This position provides other investigative services for the Warden or their designee, other institutions by request, and the Department of Corrections, Division of Adult Institutions, and works with Law Enforcement Agencies on other investigations.</p> <p>This position makes recommendations to the Warden regarding disposition of the complaints and other investigations; initiates necessary action to implement the decision and monitors until its completion.</p> <p>This position also assists in organizing workload of assigned staff and provides assistance and direction in the provision of advocate services to inmates charged with major rule violations; keeps files and records on all investigations; and conducts orientation on the Inmate Complaint Review System (ICRS) for inmates and staff representing inmates in due process/administrative confinement hearings.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 with a starting pay of $28.00/hour - $37.82/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview.</p> <p>This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.</p> <p>This position may occasionally travel to DOC worksites, but is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis. Most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.</p> <p>Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.</p> <p>The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.</p> <p>The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.</p> <p>For more in-depth information on employment with the State of Wisconsin, please see the State Employee Handbook.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:</p> <ul> <li>Conducting and/or coordinating investigations utilizing investigatory techniques (e.g., interviewing techniques, handling and preserving evidence, record keeping, reports). </li><li>Preparing an investigation summary report and making recommendations based on results for administrative action and resolution. </li><li>Interpreting, implementing, and monitoring investigative resolutions, corrective actions, policies and procedures to ensure compliance (e.g., from staff. managers, agencies. the general public, other appropriate parties). </li></ul> <p>In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:</p> <ul> <li>Responding to litigation and providing assistance for other staff responding to litigation requests as needed in the criminal justice field. </li><li>Managing records and responding to public records requests. </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To apply, click on "Apply for Job" to start the application process.
