<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Careers at DPH: Work that makes a difference!</p> <p>Embracing Service, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, Pursuing Excellence, and Advancing Equity</p> <p>The SC Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program's mission is to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children to age five who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care. The WIC Program is offering an outstanding opportunity as a Statistical Research Analyst II to continue our mission by identifying eligible population groups across the state to increase program reach, data availability and data accessibility among program and agency staff. This position is housed within the Bureau of Community Nutrition Services within the Health Programs Branch of Health Promotion and Services at the SC Department of Public Health.</p> <p>Data Collection: Utilize existing programmatic data and publicly available datasets to identify population groups who meet program eligibility criteria at varying geographic levels (i.e., county, city, zip, census tract, etc.) to inform program planning efforts. Collect and compile numerical and other research data.</p> <p>Data Analysis: Utilize MS Excel, SAS and comparable applications to clean and format data to perform routine analyses.</p> <p>Data Reporting and Monitoring: Prepare quarterly and annual reports that summarizes findings and monitor trends in program eligibility while looking across population demographics and geographical units.</p> <p>Data Visualization: Prepare maps, charts, graphs and other visual presentations. Work alongside Epidemiologists to develop dashboards using Power BI and/or similar applications as a tool for monitoring program trends and performance.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and professional experience involving research, data management and record-keeping activities. A bachelor's degree with mathematics and/or statistics courses may be substituted for the required work experience.</p> <p>Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.</p> <p>Agency Additional Requirements: Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree or higher and experience involving the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of public health data.</p> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>General public health knowledge and interest in pursuing a career in public health. Ability to analyze and interpret data using MS Excel, SAS. Ability to prepare reports and communicating data findings in written and oral format.
