<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Provide reading intervention support one-on-one and in small groups of 6-8 students. Instruct students in the specific area of specialty; help students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development, setting realistic expectations.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Assist students' educational needs both individually and in small groups </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students requirements, including IEP goals </li><li>Assess the students using district assessments </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required </li><li>Compile and maintain intervention portfolios and reports on intervention services </li><li>Monitor students' use of district assessments </li><li>Utilize a computer to establish and maintain student data </li><li>Facilitate small group math and/or reading interventions determined by the Principal and/or teacher in both pull-out and push-in models </li><li>Communicate positively with parents on the progress of students </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents </li><li>Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents through effective use of progress reports, notes, and/or conferences. </li><li>Tutor students in the locations and at the times designated </li><li>Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners </li><li>Teach new concepts and facilitate different activities, enabling students to learn in different ways </li><li>Attend meetings and in-services per negotiated agreement </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., home and discipline situations, medical background, and family history </li><li>Interact positively with staff, students, and parents </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with young children </li><li>Knowledge of the academic area </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Practical, active listening skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>Basic knowledge of all other subject matter </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Basic computer skills </li><li>Excellent reading comprehension </li><li>Small group instruction </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's in reading, education, or related field; Master's </li><li>Experience working in schools supporting students experiencing reading and/or learning difficulties </li><li>2 or more years working as an Interventionist, Teacher, or Tutor with children </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish, preferred </li></ul> <p>Days: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Bargaining Unit: WFT</p> <p>Click to Apply at:</p> <p>WindhamPublicSchools</p> <p>WINDHAM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>It is the policy of the Windham Public Schools to ensure equal employment opportunity to every person regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual preference or physical and mental disability; and to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students and to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical and mental disability in the school districtdistrict'sonal program and activities.</p>
