<p>POSITION TITLE: Media Specialist</p> <p>SITE: Currituck County Middle School</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal</p> <p>SALARY: Per NC State Salary Schedule plus local supplement</p> <p>STARTING DATE: August 2026</p> <p>EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate NC license </li><li>Completion of an approved program at the master's degree level or above </li><li>Upgrades professional knowledge and skills on a continual basis </li><li>Commitment to high achievement for all students </li><li>Excellent interpersonal & communication skills </li><li>Positive role model both professionally and personally </li><li>Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and support digital learning environments </li></ul> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Media Coordinator duties aligned with NCDPI School Library Media Coordinator Standards </li><li>Planning and implementing for teaching and learning </li><li>Assesses learning and information needs of students and staff </li><li>Provides training and support to staff on technology integration </li><li>Provides instruction in digital citizenship in compliance with CIPA, including safe, ethical, and responsible technology use </li><li>Advocates and promotes reading and lifelong learning </li><li>Coordinates and coaches students for participation in the district Elementary Battle of the Books program and annual competition </li><li>Advocates the principles of intellectual freedom and ethical behavior </li><li>Planning and implementing for information access, evaluation and use </li><li>Creates and maintains an environment conducive to learning </li><li>Leads teachers and students in the collaborative process to select and evaluate resources that address curricular needs and learning goals for the information age </li></ul> <p>Technology & Device Management:</p> <ul> <li>Supports school-based technology needs, including basic troubleshooting of devices and applications in the absence of on-site technical support </li><li>Manages Chromebook distribution and collection processes, including inventory and tracking </li><li>Coordinates and maintains records for student device fees, fines, and accountability procedures </li><li>Processes and documents Chromebook damage, repairs, and replacements in accordance with district guidelines </li></ul> <p>Program Administration & Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Planning and implementing for program administration </li><li>Collaborates with school staff to design and implement short and long-range plans to ensure balance among teaching, instructional technology, collection development, and program management </li><li>Organizes and maintains accurate inventories of print and non-print resources, technology materials, and equipment in the school library media facility in a manner that supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and maximizes intellectual and physical access to resources </li><li>Provides leadership in fostering a culture of literacy, inquiry, and digital learning </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary based on experience and education. </li><li>Health and retirement benefits. </li><li>Opportunities for professional growth and development. </li></ul>
