<p>Job Summary</p> <p>General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.</p> <p>We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Metrology Technician in our Energy division to perform a variety of activities, with a focus in metrology and component inspection, in support of the Target Fabrication Group at LLNL in Livermore, CA. This work will be focused on components and targets for the National Ignition Facility, the world's largest laser system, in support of leading edge fusion and high energy research and the driving the scientific basis of national security efforts.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Operates computer controlled and manually operated metrology stations and provides dimensional inspection data on micron and millimeter-scale components. </li><li>Requires regular use of computers, instrumentation, multi-axis assembly stations, microscopes, and metrology equipment including Optical Coordinate Measuring Machines. </li><li>Interacts with resident staff and other engineering, scientific, and technical personnel from a variety of laboratory organizations. </li><li>Performs measurement tasks in a class 100 cleanroom including: </li><li>Complex measurements on individual components and assemblies. </li><li>Interprets and executes standard technical operating procedures. </li><li>Target base, subassembly, and final target dimensional metrology. </li><li>May be required to perform high vacuum leak testing of components at cryogenic temperatures. </li><li>Handles and inspects high value and extremely fragile components. </li><li>Diagnoses and corrects operational problems or trouble sources in equipment or tests. </li><li>Assists in maintenance of metrology equipment. </li><li>Inspect and measure prototype components from engineering prints, informal drawings and sketches. </li><li>Provides accurate and organized documentation of measurements and processes. </li><li>Collaborates with a diverse team involved in process improvement projects. </li><li>Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. </li><li>Monitors all operations for regulatory and safety compliance. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required. </li></ul> <p>We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.</p> <p>Job Category</p> <p>Technicians</p> <p>Travel Percentage Required</p> <p>0% - 25%</p> <p>Full-Time/Part-Time</p> <p>Full-Time Hourly</p> <p>State</p> <p>California</p> <p>Clearance Level</p> <p>DOE - Q</p> <p>Pay Range Low</p> <p>56,180</p> <p>City</p> <p>Livermore</p> <p>Clearance Required?</p> <p>Desired</p> <p>Pay Range High</p> <p>83,518</p> <p>Recruitment Posting Title</p> <p>Technician Metrology - Livermore</p> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. </li><li>Must be able to work with common hand tools and operate laboratory equipment. </li><li>Must have the capability to perform complex assignments with little or no direction. </li><li>Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials. </li><li>Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required. </li><li>Must be customer focused and possess strong organizational skills to maintain flow of work within the unit. </li><li>General knowledge of computer operations, applications, word processing, and spreadsheets. </li><li>Must have analytical ability to read and understand detailed instructions, drawings, CAD models, and specifications. </li><li>Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills to interface with all levels of internal employees and be able to accurately document and record precise information. </li><li>Communication skills necessary to explain technical information and respond to routine issues or situations and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. </li><li>The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required. </li><li>Performs tasks in a class 100 cleanroom requiring long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. </li><li>Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance. </li><li>US Citizenship required. </li></ul> <p>US Citizenship Required?</p> <p>Yes</p> <p>Experience Level</p> <p>Entry-Level (0-2 years)</p> <p>Relocation Assistance Provided?</p> <p>No</p> <p>Workstyle</p> <p>Onsite</p>
