<p>Library Media Specialist</p> <p>Belview Elementary School</p> <p>School Year 2025-2026</p> <p>Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a Library Media Specialist teaching position that is available at Belview Elementary School.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The Library Media Specialist works with teachers and other school staff to provide skills and materials to supplement student learning. Responsibilities include maintaining an updated and efficiently functioning library; maintaining and upgrading library materials; supervising the circulation of library materials; instructing students on how to use the library; and performing management duties related to the library.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher's License with appropriate endorsement as a Library Media Specialist </li><li>Have extensive knowledge of books and literature </li><li>Apply technology in an educational setting </li><li>Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework </li><li>Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students </li><li>Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment </li><li>Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with the selection and utilization of library media materials and equipment, including the various technologies found in the media centers </li><li>Experience with the organization, administration, and evaluation of a library media center, including ethical issues </li><li>Familiarity with the role of the library media specialist as a resource person for students and professional staff in curriculum design and the integration of library media services in instruction </li></ul> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>SALARY: $50,072.26 - $83,120.04 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience (current salary scale may change due to 2025-2026 budget considerations)</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>Anthem Medical Plans - Multiple options available for comprehensive medical and prescription coverage</p> <p>Ameritas Vision Plan - Coverage includes eye exams, lenses, frames, and contact lenses</p> <p>Delta Dental Plan - FREE Delta Dental coverage for employees, spouses, and families</p> <p>Carilion EAP - FREE Confidential Employee Assistance Program providing support for mental health, legal, financial concerns, and crisis support available to employees and their families</p> <p>Generous Employee Leave Benefits - MCPS offers leave benefits for PT and FT employees, including paid sick leave, personal leave, funeral leave, and annual leave.
