This position as the opportunity to cover on-call hours for additional pay.</p> <p>The University of Utah College of Nursing seeks nurse practitioners to provide health care at a variety of practice sites including but not limited to: Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS), RedMed Employee Health, Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake and other locations.</p> <p>This position is within the College of Nursing's Practice and Community Collaboration. We are a dynamic team of providers who are committed to excellence, innovation, and mentoring future nurse practitioners. We practice in a variety of settings and enjoy a large degree of self-determination. Most clinics are open during the day, M-F. Our JJYS medical clinics are open 5-7 days a week but providers only work weekdays. Compensated evening and weekend call may become available. We manage our own patient panel, but as part of a supportive team, we often collaborate.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform a comprehensive physical examination to identify the normal and abnormal changes associated with health, injury and /or disease states. </li><li>Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures and tests, as indicated by the history and physical examination, for acute and common primary care conditions. </li><li>Develop differential diagnoses on the basis of clinical and laboratory data. </li><li>Differentiate common primary care problems and other deviations from normal. Recognize emergency situations and initiate emergency care/triage. </li><li>Provide for general health needs of patients, including health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. </li><li>Initiate health promotion and disease prevention strategies that consider the individual's age, developmental status, disability, culture, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. </li><li>Provide individualized client teaching and counseling in respect to current identified problem, disease states and social/cultural situation. </li><li>Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. </li><li>Participates in quality improvement activities. </li><li>Functions as preceptor for undergraduate and graduate students. </li><li>Perform other relevant duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Required</p> <p>Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.</p> <p>Preferred</p> <p>Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.</p> <p>Utah State prescriptive privileges.</p> <p>Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.</p> <p>UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.</p> <p>This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy.
