<p>Description</p> <p>McCrillis Gardens, a 6-acre horticulture display garden located in Bethesda, MD, is seeking a part-time Seasonal Gardener Assistant to assist with gardening tasks from March through November. The ideal candidate is energetic and enjoys being outside, interacting with people, and has an outstanding work ethic with great attention to detail. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of plants and experience using a variety of equipment for tasks like planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching. Salary is commensurate with experience.</p> <p>Examples of Important Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists Horticultural staff with all maintenance and planting tasks, including: bed preparation, mulching, and weeding.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates power equipment and small machinery.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses a variety of hand tools for landscape maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts with visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the supervision of volunteer groups.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position is seasonal/part-time. This position is not eligible for benefits.</p> </li><li> <p>Must successfully pass a complete background investigation and drug screening prior to hire.</p> </li><li> <p>May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Primarily works outside. Exposed to weather, dirt, waste, odors, pesticides, wildlife, and potentially harmful insects (for example, bees, hornets, wasps, etc.). Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
