<p>The Director of Social Work will assist with planning and implementing a comprehensive Social Services program which provides for counseling and other support services for customers and legal representatives within TGH. Identifies medical-related social needs of customers, provides appropriate services to meet the individual, as well as collective needs of customers, and maintains records relating to the customers' social work needs and care. Director of Social Services consults with other department heads regarding interdisciplinary issues, as well as maintenance of appropriate records. Works directly with customers and legal representatives experiencing personal and environmental difficulties or concerns related to the customer's physical or emotional condition. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.</p> <p>Key Accountabilities:</p> <ul> <li>Directs and leads the Social Work Department to ensure effectiveness and efficiency for key functions and processes of the Social Work Department; Collaborates with leaders in clinical settings to ensure Social Work services are provided in accordance with Social Work hospital/department and regulatory standards and requirements. </li><li>Responsible for effective and efficient staffing, coaching and development of staff, and setting and maintaining high work standards. Develops and implements plans for the development of departmental staff through training programs, supervision, individual learning activities and recognition. </li><li>Works with Social Work Managers to provide consistent direction, clinical supervision, and ongoing training for social work staff. </li><li>Monitors operational and financial targets and variations in line with budget expectations. </li><li>Collaborates with Family Support Services and others to ensure compliance with government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and third-party payer requirements. </li><li>Manages the operational needs of the department. May serve on hospital task forces and committees as appropriate. </li><li>Monitors performance feedback and plans, develops, and implements activities to improve the individual and collective performance of the staff in providing services to patients and families. Directs and develops staff to look at service delivery workflows and processes and identifies opportunities for improvement of these outcome metrics. </li><li>Leads individuals and work groups to continuously improve performance by creating an environment that ensures application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Nursing, Health Administration, or Business Administration required. Must be a Licensed Social Worker in the State of FL (LCSW).</p> <p>Experience: Five (5) years' experience in a hospital setting, along with progressively responsible management experience.</p> <p>Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing social services, hospital information systems (e.g. logician and IDX)), staff development techniques, and performance improvements processes. Also requires a knowledge of legal & regulatory issues as it relates to state guidelines for child abuse and domestic violence reporting.</p> <p>Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the ability to manage processes and people, effectively communicate verbally and in writing, conduct meetings, operate a personal computer, promote exceptional customer service, and utilize performance improvement techniques.</p>
