<ul> <li>This position provides building custodial and support services to West Hills Athletic Club (WHAC). This position receives work direction from the Operations Manager of West Hills Athletic Club or his/her designee. </li></ul> <p>Major Duties</p> <ul> <li>Cleans and maintains structures, fixtures and furnishings in assigned University buildings and cleans and maintains building exteriors and associated structural features including porches, stairways, walkways and loading docks. </li><li>Performs complete cleaning and disinfecting of all rest rooms, showers and kitchen areas.This position cleans fireplaces and removes and replaces shower curtains and drapes. </li><li>Changes light bulbs and florescent tubes in all areas, collects trash from all areas and disposes of collected materials in appropriate refuse containers. </li><li>Washes windows inside and out, and removes snow and ice from porches, verandas, walks and steps as directed by supervisory personnel, using appropriate tools and equipment. </li><li>Assembles and arranges furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, chalkboards, projector screens and other items, as required for conferences, meetings, banquets and other events. </li><li>Maintains the custodial closets, supply closets and equipment in a neat, clean and orderly condition. </li><li>Performs all work in accordance with established safety practices and with instructions/training received from supervisory personnel. </li><li>Must wear substantial shoes at all times; must wear safety goggles when pouring cleaning compounds and other chemicals; and must wear safety goggles and a hard hat when changing light bulbs and florescent tubes in ceiling and hanging fixtures. </li><li>Must comply with all OSHA/MIOSHA rules and regulations governing the use and storage of cleaning compounds and other custodial supplies and electrical equipment. </li><li>May provide work direction for student employees. </li><li>Performs additional duties as requested by supervisory personnel. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Ability to read, comprehend and comply with oral and/or written instructions and safety regulations. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to lift 50 pounds of dead weight to a height of 6 feet. </li><li>Ability to ascend ladders up to 20 feet to perform tasks such as changing light bulbs and cleaning. </li><li>Able to operate mechanical and self-propelled cleaning equipment. </li><li>Ability to pass a physical examination administered by the employer's designated physician to confirm ability to perform essential job functions or determine the need for accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Bid Procedures:</p> <p>All University employees represented by AFSCME Local 1668, and non-AFSCME regular and temporary University employees, who have the present ability or required qualifications to satisfactorily perform the required work, may exercise bidding privileges on this position.</p> <ul> <li>Current AFSCME employees must complete the on-line WMU - AFSCME (bid) Sheet only. </li><li>Non-AFSCME University employees must submit an on-line WMU - Internal Application only. </li><li>Temporary University employees must submit an on-line WMU - Application only. </li></ul> <p>Additional Position Information</p> <ul> <li>This position is scheduled to work 30 hours per week, with a 0.75 FTE. </li><li>This is a first (1st) shift position.
