<p>Position Purpose/Summary</p> <p>Responsible for the safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Recognize emergencies and respond to them effectively </li><li>Enforce all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALL patrons </li><li>Inspect the facility before opening and closing to report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor </li><li>Complete all paperwork during shifts </li><li>Participate in regular in-service training sessions </li><li>Sign-in all bathers using the facility </li><li>Pick up any and all types of trash in and around the pool facility </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques </li><li>An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures </li><li>Leadership and public relation skills </li><li>Decision making skills </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <p>Current certification in the following is needed:</p> <ul> <li>American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First Aid </li><li>American Red Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional Rescuer </li><li>American Red Cross Waterfront Life guarding, if working at 5-Mile Pond </li></ul>
