Start Dates are August 4th and 11th.</p> <p>SCOPE OF WORK</p> <p>Assists electricians by performing a variety of assigned tasks under direct supervision.</p> <p>Supports electricians with installations, alterations, and/or additions of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry. Completes miscellaneous electrical or labor tasks, as directed. This position is for individuals who have started their 1st year of electrical apprenticeship classes.</p> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Uses Gaylor Values as tools to carry out all job responsibilities </li><li>Understands and complies with Company and job safety requirements (O.S.H.A.) </li><li>Understands and follows lock out tag out procedures </li><li>Acquires and maintains personal hand tools per Company policy </li><li>Certified to operate platform and boom lifts, or able to obtain certification upon hire, as necessary </li><li>Able to perform work at various heights, up to 90', from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, roofs, or other designated safe work areas </li><li>Works from all assigned types of mobile elevated work platforms </li><li>Able to learn basic hand conduit bending to ensure timely installations </li><li>Able to use two handed tools/equipment (i.e. cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.) </li><li>Able to work in restrictive/tight areas (i.e. switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, attics, etc.) </li><li>Understands verbal instructions and heeds safety warnings </li><li>Understands and exhibits proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials </li><li>Reads and understands labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately </li><li>Understand basic math and can properly read tape measure </li><li>Takes pride in craftsmanship </li></ul> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Reports to assigned job site location on time, as directed </li><li>Maintains and properly stores tools, materials, and equipment </li><li>Organizes materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work area </li><li>Possesses ability to dig trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment as necessary </li><li>Mounts and installs assigned hardware (such as conduit, wires, and strapping) as directed </li><li>Accurately identifies colors of wires and conductors </li><li>Safely performs assigned tasks under the direct supervision of an assigned electrician </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <ul> <li>May require working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of year </li><li>Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets) </li><li>Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.) </li><li>Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice </li><li>Must be able to work in noisy environments </li><li>Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations </li><li>Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required </li><li>Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to lift loads of up to 51 lbs. </li><li>Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers </li><li>Ability to climb and use ladders and scaffolding of all types for extended periods of time </li><li>Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected) </li><li>Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for use </li><li>Ability to work while constantly moving </li><li>Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment, fixtures, etc. while maintaining balance </li><li>Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and for proper use of power equipment </li><li>Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring </li><li>Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High School graduate or equivalency, preferred </li><li>Entry position; little or no previous electrical experience required. </li></ul>
