No Career Ladder Path</p> <p>n/a</p> <p>Department Name Counseling Center Full Time / Part Time full-time Scheduled Work Week / Hours / Area</p> <p>35 hours per week</p> <p>(Requires 1-2 evenings a week; weekend work as required)</p> <p>Academic or Calendar Year calendar Number of Employees Supervised 1-4 Position Overview</p> <p>Full-Time Psychologist will provide high quality, professional, and confidential individual and group counseling services to students utilizing the Counseling Center at Rhode Island College. They serve the Counseling Center by providing necessary clinical coverage, including emergency sessions. The Clinician will provide supervision hours through individual and group supervision to unlicensed clinical interns. They will also provide outreach programming (including suicide prevention), as requested by the Director.</p> <p>The mission of supporting the RIC student body in fully developing their intellectual, emotional, and social potential, while helping to reduce distress, promote emotional wellness, enhance life satisfaction, and improve overall well-being is supported by this position.</p> <p>Primary Purpose</p> <p>Full-Time Psychologist will provide high quality, professional, and confidential individual and group counseling services to students utilizing the Counseling Center at Rhode Island College. They serve the Counseling Center by providing necessary clinical coverage, including emergency sessions. The Clinician will provide supervision hours through individual and group supervision to unlicensed clinical interns. They will also provide outreach programming (including suicide prevention), as requested by the Director.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual, crisis, and group counseling and psychotherapy to students; conduct intake interviews, test interpretation, and other activities related to quality direct service. </li><li>Support referrals to community providers when student needs fall beyond the scope of practice at the Counseling Center. </li><li>Assist in design and implement of outreach programming, including groups, presentations, and single-session workshops on topics relevant to college student concerns including supporting suicide prevention focused services. </li><li>Serve as a consultant to various persons and agencies within the campus community on matters related to mental health concerns. </li><li>Assist in designing and implementing strategies for making the college environment more conducive to learning and personal growth. </li><li>• Maintain timely and appropriate clinical records. </li><li>Participate in the Center's liaison system with residence life staff; participate in training and consultation with faculty and professional and student staff to develop their skills in recognizing, responding to, and referring students in psychological distress. </li><li>Participate in the training and supervision of graduate interns and practicum students in the Counseling Center. Function as a peer consultant to clinical staff in the Center. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings and clinical conferences and ongoing professional development activities; maintain timely and appropriate clinical records. </li><li>Work under the supervision of the Director or other senior staff as designated. </li><li>Respond to after-hours crises. </li></ul> <p>Occasional Duties</p> <ul> <li>Participate in ongoing and periodic assessment of Counseling Center activities, and other evaluation, testing, and research projects as needed. </li><li>Present workshops during evening and weekend hours. </li><li>Carry out administrative/front desk functions as needed. </li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Counseling Center. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent organizational, communication, and human relations skills. </li><li>Multicultural skills, knowledge, and ability is required. </li><li>Knowledge or ability to use Electronic Medical Records (e.g., Titanium) fluently is necessary. </li><li>Knowledge of and adherence to ethical standards. </li><li>Effective communication skills both oral and written. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a Doctoral Degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from a recognized and accredited institution, and licensed to practice psychology in the state of Rhode Island. </li><li>Active license as a psychologist in the state of Rhode Island. </li><li>Minimum of two years of professional full time work experience in a university/college counseling service or comparable outpatient facility. </li><li>Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations; especially varied racial and ethnic groups. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Experience in providing assessment and treatment for one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Substance Abuse </li><li>Sexual Assault and Trauma </li><li>Eating Disorders </li><li>Learning Disabilities and ADHD </li><li>Suicide Prevention </li><li>Issues of Oppression and Social Justice Students with Personality Disorders. Recent experience with working with first-generation, low-income adolescent or young adults in a clinical setting. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <p>This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.</p>
