The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive music education program that engages students. The Music Teacher will inspire a love for music, foster creativity, and contribute to the overall development of our students.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Curriculum/Instructional Planning and Implementation:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans in accordance with the district's curriculum and educational standards. </li><li>Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and engage students in the learning process and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs. </li><li>Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. </li><li>Coordinates with other professional staff members, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. </li></ul> <p>Classroom Management:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation among students. </li><li>Implement effective behavior management strategies to create a conducive learning atmosphere. </li><li>Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom. </li></ul> <p>Assessment and Feedback:</p> <ul> <li>Regularly assess student progress using a variety of assessment tools and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student performance data and tailor instructional approaches accordingly. </li><li>Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. </li></ul> <p>Parent Communication:</p> <ul> <li>Foster open and effective communication with parents through regular updates, parent-teacher conferences, and other communication channels. </li><li>Work collaboratively with parents to support students' academic and social development. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends, teaching methodologies, and curriculum advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars and professional meetings such as faculty and department/grade level meetings. </li><li>Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall learning experience for students. </li></ul> <p>Other:</p> <ul> <li>Organizes and directs student performances, including concerts, recitals, and school assemblies. </li><li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. </li><li>The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree and NYS Certification in Music Education Grades K-12. </li><li>Piano or guitar primary instrument preferred. </li><li>Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, and educational trends. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children. </li><li>Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. </li></ul>
