To find more information and resources, visit: https://www.commerce.nd.gov/workforce/relocation-resources</p> <p>Position Description & Details:</p> <p>TrainND at Bismarck State College is on the lookout for a safety-first CDL Trainer who's ready to take the wheel and guide the next generation of professional drivers. If you've got a passion for trucking, teaching, and turning learners into confident Class A drivers, it's time to apply!</p> <p>As our CDL Trainer, you'll wear multiple hats-from classroom instructor to road-test coach to vehicle whisperer. Here's what you'll be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Overseeing and teaching the CDL courses, which include theory instruction, the CDL simulators, and a ride-along with the student(s) driving a tractor-trailer. </li><li>Scheduling the final road test with the TrainND Manager. </li><li>Coordinating the maintenance and repair of the BSC CDL tractor and trailer with the approval of the TrainND manager. </li><li>Training contract employees from local companies between CDL classes, and if all duties that pertain to the CDL Program are complete. </li><li>Third-party testing CDL students on the final road test. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES:</p> <p>General CDL support duties</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for driving with the CE CDL students in the tractor-trailer. </li><li>Responsible for the driving simulator training for the CE CDL students. </li><li>Provides instruction to prepare students for the North Dakota Department of Transportation (DOT) Class A test, pre-trip inspection, and road test. </li><li>Ensures the trucks are safe, clean, and well-maintained. </li><li>Demonstrates behind-the-wheel techniques, driving skills, and rides with students for behind-the-wheel training. </li><li>Ensures safety procedures are always followed. </li><li>Report student issues to the TrainND Manager by following proper procedures (i.e., student conduct concerns, etc.) </li></ul> <p>Miscellaneous duties</p> <ul> <li>Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and for the college. </li><li>Provide other training for industry classes based on demand and instructor expertise. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires two years of related experience. </li><li>Holds a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) for 2 years or more. </li><li>Knowledge of state and federal CDL regulations. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and work ethic. </li><li>Good interpersonal skills and common courtesy with students, employees, and the public. </li><li>Good working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, e-mail - Outlook, electronic calendar - Oracle, etc.). </li><li>Must be able to obtain CDL Third Party Testing certification from NDDOT. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Class A driving experience. </li><li>Prior teaching and/or training experience. </li><li>Associates degree. </li></ul> <p>Applicant Materials Required:</p> <p>To be considered by the search committee thoroughly complete the application and upload the following:</p> <ul> <li>Cover letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>References </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
