<p>Recruitment Number 1638 Number of Vacancies 1 Working Title Student Services Specialist / Writing Specialist Classification Title Learning Center Specialist Proposed Salary to be Offered $38,332 / year Appointment Percentage (Budget) .8333 Position Summary</p> <p>The Student Services Specialist (also known as the Writing Specialist) will work closely with the Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) to support the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of SSS programming and initiatives. This position assists in evaluating program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement. This position also provides support for the supervision, coordination, and support of the SSS program's tutoring services. That includes helping to coordinate all tutor hiring, training, evaluation and supervision. Student Services Specialist provides writing skills assessments for students, writing instruction, and writing tutoring to SSS participants both individually and in small-group settings. A federally funded TRIO program, SSS provides assistance to 350 eligible students each year.</p> <p>TRIO programs are funded through the Department of Education, providing educational opportunities designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight distinct outreach programs that serve and assist students as they progress through academia from middle school through college.
