Part Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary</p> <p>Peer Advisors' hours are set at the beginning of the semester and may vary from day to day, but will usually be 10-15 hours/week at the start of each term. Flexible scheduling can be arranged at the end of the semester. These hours may include some evening and weekend hours. Our mission is to provide students with transformative international experiences that foster academic growth, intercultural understanding, and personal development. These experiences include semesters and summers abroad, short-term faculty-led programs, international internships, and global research opportunities. Last year, we sent over 800 students abroad and awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships.</p> <p>Our dedicated team supports students in exploring programs that align with their academic goals, professional aspirations, and personal interests. We also assist with the application process, credit transfer, travel preparation, and student health and safety. With partnerships across the globe, we're proud to offer access to over 50 countries and hundreds of disciplines.</p> <p>Learning Abroad Peer Advisors are primarily responsible for representing Learning Abroad and promoting Learning Abroad opportunities to the campus community. The position is open to all current undergraduate students at the University of Utah.</p> <p>Applicants are not required to have participated in a Learning Abroad Program; however, previous international experience is preferred.</p> <p>The Learning Abroad office is hiring for two (2) positions.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Greet and assist students, parents, staff, and faculty in a professional and welcoming manner. </li><li>Answer emails and phone calls that come to Learning Abroad inbox; Respond to visitor inquiries and direct them to appropriate team members or resources. </li><li>Conduct outreach via email and phone to students with pending applications, ensuring respectful communication. </li><li>Support the planning, preparation, and execution of Learning Abroad events, including the Fall Fair. </li><li>Maintain prompt, professional communication with Learning Abroad staff, faculty, and students. </li><li>Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills in daily tasks. </li><li>Provide support for general office duties, projects, and ongoing initiatives. </li><li>Engage confidently in public speaking, networking, and student interactions. </li><li>Perform clerical tasks and other duties as assigned by Learning Abroad. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Maintain good standing and full-time status at the University of Utah </li><li>Notify Learning Abroad if employed by any other office or department at the University of Utah </li><li>Demonstrate a minimum availability (scheduling flexibility) of 15 hours per week </li><li>Commit to two consecutive semesters (AY 2025-2026) of employment with possible extension to the summer and the next academic year </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Experience with and enthusiasm for public speaking </li><li>Excellent time management and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to respond to texts and emails quickly and regularly </li><li>Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to last-minute requests or schedule changes </li><li>Demonstrated experience with teaching, mentorship, coaching, and/or leadership </li><li>Enthusiasm for the development of new skills and knowledge </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
