<p>The Robert Adams Middle school is looking for an After-School Monitor to help maintain a safe and supervised environment during after-school hours. Responsibilities include monitoring hallways and common areas, assisting any unsupervised students in locating a club or supervised activity, and supervising students waiting for after-school and late buses. The monitor reports any concerns directly to the Assistant Principal.</p> <p>Hours: 3:00 pm-4:30 pm (4 days/week)</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required </li><li>Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a supervisory, educational, or recreational setting (e.g., camp counselor, paraprofessional, school security, youth group leader) is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with students, school staff, and the Assistant Principal. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to maintain order and discipline in a consistent and positive manner. </li><li>Ability to remain alert and observant while monitoring large groups of students in various areas (hallways, common areas, bus zones). </li><li>Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to de-escalate minor student issues before they become major concerns. </li><li>Reliability and Punctuality: Proven ability to adhere to a strict schedule and be present for all assigned after-school hours. </li><li>Ability to follow clear instructions and implement school-specific safety protocols and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check. In addition to the national background check, a satisfactory Massachusetts Criminal Record Check (CORI) is required.</p> <p>Robert Adams Middle School: We are a grade 6-8 middle school immersed in a three year journey to evaluate and modify everything we do around the mindset of Personal Local Global (PLG).</p> <p>PLG encompasses our greater vision that RAMS is here to develop critical thinkers, effective communicators and collaborative problem solvers, who are self-aware, curious, creative, compassionate, and resilient young adults- poised and prepared to pursue their passions and to contribute to an increasingly complex, interconnected and ever-changing world. Classrooms and schools need to be learner focused environments where students feel empowered to actively construct meaning, apply understandings, develop essential skills and grow individuals and learners in a dynamic, collaborative and interactive manner under the expert guidance of their team of teachers. This would include opportunities for voice and choice, development of complex problem solving and critical thinking skills, time for reflection and self assessment, opportunities to create and innovate, collaboration, relationship building, and targeted instruction and explicit feedback.</p>
