<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) Summer Academy is an immersive residential program designed to prepare first-generation and low-income high school students for college and careers in STEM fields. Students participate in rigorous academic coursework, hands-on STEM activities, and college-readiness workshops while residing on a college campus.</p> <p>We are looking for motivated and compassionate Academic Residential Assistants (ARAs) to provide leadership, support, and supervision to students during the summer academy. RAs are essential in creating a positive, structured, and safe residential environment for students while also encouraging academic and personal growth.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and mentor a cohort of students in a residential setting. </li><li>Enforce program rules, safety procedures, and residence hall policies. </li><li>Plan and lead evening activities, including team-building exercises and recreational events. </li><li>Encourage student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities. </li><li>Serve as a role model, encouraging student participation and positive behavior. </li><li>Conduct nightly check-ins, room checks, and address student concerns. </li><li>Collaborate with program staff and provide support for special events. </li><li>Respond to student emergencies and communicate concerns to program leadership. </li><li>Maintain regular communication with program staff, faculty, and students. </li><li>Address student concerns or conflicts and escalate issues to appropriate staff as necessary. </li><li>Attend all staff meetings and maintain required records </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 18 years old and completed at least two years of college. </li><li>Passion for working with disadvantaged populations </li><li>Prior experience working with youth in an educational, mentoring, or residential setting </li><li>Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively in both team and independent settings. </li><li>Must be available to live on campus for the duration of the program. </li><li>Must be able to satisfactorily pass a CORI and SORI check </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual ability is a plus </li><li>Valid driver's license and willingness to drive a 15 passenger van is a plus </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Shift Information:</p> <ul> <li>Mondays - Thursdays: 1:00pm - 5:30pm; 6:30pm - 10:00pm </li><li>Fridays: (Field Trips) 8:00am - 12:00pm; 1:00pm - 5:00pm </li><li>Academic Residential Assistants earn a salary of $4000, paid in bi-weekly installments. </li><li>Non benefitted contractor position. </li></ul> <p>Additional Info:</p> <ul> <li>CPR, emergency management, and other training provided. </li><li>Room & board provided (approximate value: $2,680).
