<p>Application Deadline: August 20th, 2025</p> <p>Salary: $52,966.78 - $69,888.42</p> <p>Full-Time, Benefitted, Non-ExemptThe City of Laramie is accepting applications for a full-time Recreation Program Assistant for the Ice & Event Center. This is a benefited position, approximately 40 hours a week, and will require working during evenings and weekends as programming and activities demand. This position works under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor at the Ice & Event Center and assists with all arena operations and programming. During ice season which runs September through March programs are ice based and during the "off-ice" months the facility is used for other departmental programs which require support and coordination. Under supervision, the Assistant will manage facilities, equipment maintenance, staffing and programming at the Ice & Events Center. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist with scheduling user groups, schedule and manage provisional staff, coordinate activities at the Ice and Events Center.Help plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing facility maintenance and recreation program services at the Ice and Events Center; develop, supervise, and conduct recreation programs including ice skating, speed skating, hockey and curling.Help recruit, select, assign and train recreation staff; provide and/or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.Develop and manage standard operating procedures to ensure appropriate facility and equipment maintenance and management.Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; research, develop, recommend, and implement new programs; establish schedules and methods for providing recreation services; implement policies and procedures.Assess facilities, fee structures and equipment needs; evaluate services of current programs and implement changes to existing programs.Participate in the preparation and administration of the Recreation budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.Perform promotional work in encouraging citizen participation, attendance, and interest in recreational activities; design and create advertising and promotional materials; talk with civic, private and other organizations regarding the activities of the Recreation Division.Respond to and resolve inquiries and complaints. QUALIFICATIONS (Any combination equivalent to experience and training would be qualifying):Three years of responsible recreation program experience including some supervisory experience.One year experience with ice programs, including knowledge of basic equipment and mechanical systems related to ice facilities and programs.Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, physical education, athletic programming. Applicants who are offered an appointment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening test and driver license check.
