<p>Public BuildingsDETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Perform the duties of a Building Custodian, to include but not limited to: cleaning; dusting; sweeping, washing, buffing and waxing floors; shampooing rugs and carpets; moving furniture and other objects; washing walls; washing glass and windows; polishing wood work; changing of light bulbs or LED equivalents; sweeping walkways; removing ice and snow; caring for custodial equipment; emptying trash baskets; collecting trash and recycling , operating low pressure HVAC systems, performing minor carpentry; making minor repairs to buildings, equipment, plumbing systems, lighting systems and HVAC systems; install window screens and storm windows as needed; check on safety appliances and fire extinguishers, etc., raise and lower flags daily; lift heavy objects; requisition, receive and store supplies </li><li>Investigate and report maintenance problems </li><li>Be available for emergency on-call status and make every effort to work overtime during emergencies, storms and adverse weather conditions </li><li>Perform the duties of a Building Maintenance Person, to include but not be limited to: miscellaneous maintenance and repair tasks on municipal buildings and property requiring a variety of skills of less than journeyman level in carpentry, painting, plumbing, plastering, and other skilled trades </li><li>Assume the responsibilities and authorities of the Supervisor of Custodians of the Department of Public Buildings, when directed, in the absence of the Supervisor of Custodians </li><li>Perform such other related tasks and duties as directed </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS and ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diplomat or GED required with advanced training or on the job experience in related fields preferred </li><li>Prior custodial experience </li><li>Prior experience in all phases of building maintenance </li><li>Prior supervisory experience </li><li>Prior experience in supplies and materials inventory, procurement and management </li><li>Must have valid class D Massachusetts Driver license </li><li>Must have Criminal Offender Record Information "CORI" report acceptable to the City </li><li>Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment </li><li>Ability of safely operate and use all equipment required of the job </li><li>Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others </li><li>Ability to follow oral and written instructions </li><li>Frequent moderate to strenuous physical effort required to perform duties under variable conditions required.
