<p>Job Type: Regular</p> <p>Time Type: Full time</p> <p>Work Shift: Day (United States of America)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.</p> <p>40hpw; Day Shift; Rotating weekend and holidays</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities or Assistant Director, performs all carpentry and related repairs and installations in the hospital, including the procurement of necessary permits on new installations and renovations.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on roofs, building envelopes, and flooring systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to work off shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime. Performs similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency, temporary or limited basis as assigned. Subject to on call.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment and materials by contacting vendors for competitive pricing and availability.</p> </li><li> <p>Repairs & installs drywall, mudding, taping and painting</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts and coordinates space moves and relocations as required</p> </li><li> <p>Installs flooring, carpeting and drop ceilings</p> </li><li> <p>Inspect the work of outside contractors to ensure compliance with regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine acceptable quality of materials and/or equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Assign work and determine on-the-job procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Needs to have strong work knowledge of other trades; HVAC, boilers, plumbing, carpentry and maintenance mechanic.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs maintenance and repairs to physical plant and environment including major and minor carpentry work.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond and complete Grand PM work tickets as required/assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as an Emergency Preparedness First Responder, as trained</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts Preventative Maintenance (PM's) as scheduled or assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts daily monitoring Rounds as required</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts utility shutdowns and re-starts as required/assigned</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts regular testing and annual inspections as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to calls for service in a timely manner</p> </li><li> <p>Intervenes on the patient's behalf as appropriate</p> </li><li> <p>Documents all activities according to healthcare organizational policy</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in department based management performance improvement activities</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in product evaluations</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts with Maintenance team on a regular basis</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in problem identification and solving activities</p> </li><li> <p>Role model for other healthcare organizational staff</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies learning opportunities required to enhance care delivery</p> </li></ul> <p>It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required.</p> <p>Experience/Knowledge/skills Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>At least 8+ years of experience as a licensed carpenter (master preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 5+ years in a Lead or supervisory role</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Mass State Drivers License</p> </li><li> <p>Good communication and teaching skills</p> </li><li> <p>Capable of self-directed responsibilities and able to establish priorities</p> </li><li> <p>Professional image</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborative relationships with members of the healthcare team and ancillary support personnel</p> </li><li> <p>Customer service & Service excellence training/knowledge</p> </li></ul> <p>Education Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>Working knowledge of Life Safety regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards</p> </li><li> <p>High School graduate or equivalent</p> </li><li> <p>Able to read and write English at a 12th grade level</p> </li></ul> <p>Registration/Certification</p> <ul> <li> <p>Current and valid Mass Carpenters License.</p> </li><li> <p>Mass DPS Unrestricted Construction Supervisor license preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Able to obtain state "Special to Operator" boiler certification within 6 months of hire.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical/Environmental Requirements</p> <p>This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 - 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
