Success in this role requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills, along with relevant production experience, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of printing processes.</p> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee daily operations on the production floor to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of printing jobs </li><li>Provide direct supervision, support, and coaching to press operators and production staff </li><li>Monitor quality control standards and ensure printed materials meet BJU Press specifications </li><li>Coordinate job assignments, shift schedules, and personnel coverage to maintain productivity </li><li>Lead and implement 5S workplace organization initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and cleanliness </li><li>Identify and resolve operational issues, escalating concerns to management when necessary </li><li>Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and standard operating procedures </li><li>Assist in training new employees and reinforcing best practices among existing staff </li><li>Communicate effectively with team members, other departments, and leadership to maintain smooth operations </li><li>Track production metrics and contribute to continuous improvement efforts </li><li>Other Duties and other shifts as assigned </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:</p> <ul> <li>Strong leadership - able to motivate and guide team members with clarity and confidence </li><li>Effective communication - clear, respectful, and timely interaction with staff and management </li><li>Problem-solving mindset - quick thinking and resourcefulness in resolving production challenges </li><li>Attention to detail - vigilant in maintaining quality standards and spotting inconsistencies </li><li>Adaptability - comfortable adjusting to changing priorities, schedules, or production needs </li><li>Team-oriented attitude - fosters collaboration and a positive work environment </li><li>Time management - prioritizes tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and production goals </li><li>Initiative - takes proactive steps to improve processes and support team success </li><li>Accountability - owns responsibilities and encourages others to do the same </li><li>Commitment to safety and order - consistently promotes a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or coursework in printing or production management is a plus </li><li>Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a printing, manufacturing, or production environment </li><li>Supervisory or team lead experience in a fast-paced operational setting a plus </li><li>Working knowledge of printing equipment and processes, including offset and digital presses a plus </li><li>Familiarity with production scheduling, workflow coordination, and job tracking systems </li><li>Understanding of quality control standards and ability to inspect printed materials for accuracy and consistency </li><li>Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and production software </li><li>Experience implementing 5S or other lean manufacturing principles </li><li>Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specs, and safety documentation </li><li>Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for minor equipment issues </li></ul> <p>An applicant for a position in the Bob Jones University group - Bob Jones University, Bob Jones Academy or BJU Press - must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
