<p>Senior & Adult Services</p> <p>ADRC Specialist (Part-Time)</p> <p>General Description</p> <p>The ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center) Specialist reports directly to the Social Programs Supervisor. Introduces supportive services, information, referrals and available benefits to older adults, disabled adults and their families. Attends in-service programs and staff meetings. Responds to changing situations in a flexible manner. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all county and departmental policies and procedures.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Introduces supportive services available to older adults, disabled adults and their families. Provides information, benefits assistance to this population and their caregivers, including Medicare Open Enrollment options, as well as other public and private benefit options. Provides referral and linkages to Medina County Senior & Adult Services (MCSAS) programs' or with other agencies and programs, including transit and nutrition programs, dependent upon particular needs. Establishes and maintains relationships with other local groups as appropriate, e.g., independent living centers, caregiver support groups, other disability-specific groups. Provides service in accordance with Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and the Ohio Department of Aging. </li><li>Answers telephone main line for Medina County Senior & Adult Services. Assesses and reviews information with the general public to take appropriate messages and make appropriate referrals. Screens calls for further assessment by MCSAS. Responds to walk-in appointments and agency front desk service needs. </li><li>Maintains and revises client records and service documentation based on client feedback. Offers assistance to MCSAS staff and the general public regarding best practices and emerging trends in support and service programs available to older adults, disabled adults and their families. </li><li>Works with Social Program Supervisor to maintain database of resources. Attends required in-service programs and staff meetings. Attends and participates in MCSAS special events. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree; LSW preferred. </li><li>1-3 years experience in dealing with older adult or disabled adult population </li><li>Must obtain certifications as determined by supervisor, may include: Alliance of Information Referral Systems (AIRS) and Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) training within 18 months of hire. </li><li>Valid Ohio Driver's License and clean driving record. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Social Work </li><li>Federal, state & local laws related to aging adults and adults with a disability </li><li>Federal, state mandated forms, documentation, and procedures </li><li>Computers & standard software </li><li>Community Services </li><li>Benefit Services for older adults </li><li>Adult Interviewing Skills </li><li>Administrative procedures </li><li>County personnel policies </li><li>Safe practices </li></ul> <p>Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintains a safe working environment. </li><li>Correct usage of equipment and facilities. </li><li>Operation of basic office equipment </li><li>Complete routine forms </li><li>Various communication methods: Phone, Text, Email </li><li>Interview clients & family members to determine need for services </li><li>Handle sensitive interactions, phone calls and face-to-face contact with the public, clients, family members, and agencies </li><li>Working cooperatively with others </li><li>Collaborate/elicit feedback & suggestions </li><li>Maintain client records </li><li>Write & prepare meaningful reports and dictation </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to travel independently throughout the county </li><li>Personal Integrity </li><li>Ability to work with limited supervision </li><li>Flexibility and the ability to change daily plans </li><li>Confidentiality & professionalism </li></ul> <p>Mental/Physical Requirements</p> <p>The mental and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. </li><li>Maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. </li><li>Will be required to drive to attend meetings </li><li>Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. </li><li>Typically, the employee sits to do the work in an office or meeting room. </li><li>Mental and cognitive skills to make independent decisions, advise, direct, plan, coordinate, analyze, develop, implement, recommend, research, understand, counsel, and manage. </li></ul> <p>Hours: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Starting Rate: $19.50/hour</p>
