<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>This Education Associate position serves on the Certification Team in the Office of Educator Services and supports certification and educator workforce development initiatives. The employee in this position manages the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE's) Teacher Cultural Exchange Program, coordinating educator certification and assisting with recruitment and retention efforts. This role also contributes to the ongoing review and revision of certification guidelines and represents the agency at stakeholder engagements.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Facilitates the Teacher Cultural Exchange Program by approving educator participation, processing certification for international teachers, monitoring and supporting program participants, and serving as an Alternate Responsible Officer for South Carolina within the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Collaborates with sponsoring agencies to review and authorize cultural exchange programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates and supports educators in adding National Board Certification to their South Carolina teaching certificate by providing guidance, resources, and coordinated assistance to ensure successful completion of all requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the review and revision of certification guidelines, with a focus on requirements for adding additional areas of certification and specialized endorsements. Convenes content-area experts to update guidelines as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports a broad range of recruitment and retention initiatives designed to strengthen South Carolina's educator workforce, including statewide pipelines such as Teach SC, specialized preparation and support programs like SC CREATE, and housing-related incentives.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents the office and agency at stakeholder meetings, conferences, recruitment events, and educator recognition ceremonies.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>This position is located in the Office of Educator Services.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, or a related field. </li><li>At least three (3) years of professional experience in education, certification, or program coordination. </li><li>Knowledge of educator certification processes and state/federal education policies. </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities and meet deadlines. </li><li>Master's degree in education, public policy, or a related field. </li><li>Experience working with international education programs or cultural exchange initiatives. </li><li>Familiarity with educator retention strategies and educator recruitment initiatives including teacher and student loan programs. </li><li>Experience representing an agency or organization at public events and stakeholder meetings. </li><li>Proficiency in data reporting and analysis tools. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>ONLY THOSE APPLICANTS CHOSEN FOR AN INTERVIEW WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER THAT THE POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED.</p> <p>http://www.ed.sc.gov/jobs/human-resources/title-ix-nondiscrimination/</p>
