<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist II</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>This is a float position, requiring coverage across various sites including Murrieta, Temecula, Perris, Hemet, and Menifee. The coverage needs can change daily based on call-outs in the area. The main function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information. </li><li>Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. </li><li>Explain the venipuncture process in a clear and courteous manner to patients. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. </li><li>Understand and follow all physicians' orders. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. </li><li>Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script with 100% accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport. </li><li>Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and protocols to maintain specimen integrity. </li><li>Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. </li><li>Attend annual department trainings. </li><li>Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. </li><li>Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>2-4 years of phlebotomy experience. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with high volume draws. </li><li>Flexibility with floating to various locations such as Hemet, Murrieta, Moreno Valley, Temecula, and Fallbrook. </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This position requires flexibility in floating between multiple sites, including potential coverage in Hemet, Murrieta, Moreno Valley, Temecula, and Fallbrook. The work involves a high-paced environment with a focus on patient care and adherence to safety regulations.
