<p>An opportunity to Inspire, Challenge, and Empower!</p> <p>IN DISTRICT ONLY:</p> <p>Join us for our Summer School and Extended School Program! We are looking for a Medical Technician - Para Educator to support Extended School Year (ESY) and Summer School.</p> <p>Interview Process: If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview.</p> <p>Location: Mountain View Elementary (Elementary) or Shelton High School (Secondary), dependent on assigned location.</p> <p>Dates: 6/22/2026 - 7/23/2026; (Monday through Thursday), no summer school or Fridays).</p> <p>Hours: Elementary (7:45am - 12:45pm); Secondary (7:30am - 12:00pm)</p> <p>Pay: Pay is according to the 2025-2026 Para Educator Salary Schedule; the step placement will be according to the successful candidate's current step. Time will be submitted on a timecard.</p> <p>Individual's will be paid at their current step as a Para Educator on the 2025-2026 salary schedule.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)</p> <p>There will be some required meetings prior to the start of summer programs to prepare.</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>The MedTech- Para Tech administers medication and assists the school nurse in creating a safe, efficient, and professional process for the administration of medication and other nursing assigned duties to comply with state law. The Med Tech works closely with the school nurse, administration, staff, and families.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Current Para Educator with Shelton School District. </li><li>Possession of First Aid/CPR card or the ability to obtain one. </li><li>Experience working with adolescents. </li><li>Experience or ability to learn basic first aid to treat minor injuries of students. </li><li>Ability to follow medical plans for students under the supervision of a licensed nurse. </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain regular attendance over the entire course of the summer program. </li><li>Ability and willingness to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, students, and families. </li><li>Ability and willingness to work with a diverse student population including student with Individual Educational Plans (IEP's). </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain a positive attitude at work. </li><li>Ability and willingness to assist with student behavior. </li><li>Ability and willingness to perform the essential functions of of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Distributes medication to students as prescribed by the health care provider. </li><li>Counts and records medication when received and on regularly scheduled days. </li><li>Documents and maintains required medication records. </li><li>Communicates with parent to assure proper procedures are followed in relation to medication. </li><li>Communicates with school nurse regarding changes and verification of medication. </li><li>Oversees security of medication. </li><li>Maintains inventory of required medication related forms. </li><li>Follows medical plans for students under the supervision of a licensed nurse. </li><li>Assists the school nurse with record keeping of health screening results. </li><li>Assists the school nurse with lice documentation and reporting to the parent. </li><li>Supervises students in a variety of settings. </li><li>Depending on the assignment administers first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or children with disabilities. </li><li>Contacts families of students when appropriate based on injury/ailment of student. </li><li>Refers students to others as appropriate based on injury/ailment (i.e., family, emergency personnel, licensed nurse, etc.). </li><li>Attends trainings and meetings as appropriate or directed. </li><li>Develops and maintains professional, positive relationships with staff, students, and families. </li><li>Collaborates with staff to achieve student, class, building, and District goals. </li><li>Participates in meetings and trainings. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul>
