All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications, submitting all required application materials and receiving a passing score on the written questionnaire will be invited to participate in the remainder of the Civil Service Examination, which will include the Predictive Index Survey and the Oral Board (Interview) Exam. Oral Boards are tentatively scheduled for the week of April 13, 2026. All dates are tentative and subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.</p> <p>Civil Service Status</p> <p>This is a Civil Service position</p> <p>Hours of Work</p> <p>Monda- - Friday (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)</p> <p>Overtime, and weekend work as required</p> <p>Tentative Start Date</p> <p>May 2026</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Community and Economic Development Director, the Economic Development Specialist contributes to the growth and development of the City by promoting business retention and expansion efforts, including marketing to new industry; assists in the administration of the City's Economic and Development programs; manages projects to stimulate business growth and job creation, collaborates with developers, administers small business assistance programs, and assists in the development of workforce education and job training programs.</p> <p>Deadline to Apply</p> <p>Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 11:59 pm</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Economic Development Specialist</p> <p>Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Planning, Marketing, Public Administration, Political Science or related field.</p> <p>Requires at least two (2) years' experience working with the business community, economic development professionals and developers (local, state or federal level), businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups to advance job growth and business development. One (1) year experience required if have successfully completed the Heartland Economic Development Program by the International Economic Development Council.</p> <p>Successful completion of the Heartland Economic Development Program by the International Economic Development Council required within 18 months of employment. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) preferred.</p>
