<p>The Fleet Maintenance Technician Apprentice is an entry level role designed for individuals looking to build a long-term career in automotive maintenance. (Not Flat Rate) Paid for every hour worked. </li><li>Paid Holidays & Paid Time Off (PTO) </li><li>401(k) </li><li>Internal career growth opportunities </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist with routine inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment </li><li>Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues </li><li>Support technicians in repairing engines, brakes, suspension, steering, transmissions, and HVAC systems </li><li>Help with oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, and basic repairs </li><li>Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used </li><li>Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept clean and in good condition </li><li>Follow all safety protocols and use proper protective equipment </li><li>Ensure all data is collected in the computerized maintenance management system collecting the complaints, causes, corrective actions and all labor and parts used </li><li>Participate in training sessions and classroom instruction as part of the apprenticeship program </li><li>Areas of training and repair to include but not limited to automotive vehicles, light duty trucks, powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis of wheelchair lifts </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned or required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behavior related to such </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours as required </li><li>Ability to take guidance from other technicians </li><li>Willingness to follow all company policies, procedures, and regulations </li><li>Be drug free and subject to Random Drug and Alcohol Testing as required </li><li>Ability to read and comprehend training materials </li><li>Demonstrate competencies in mechanical aptitude </li><li>Regular attendance is required </li></ul> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license </li><li>Experience using general hand and power tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair preferred </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>This job operates in a professional Shop environment </li><li>May be subject to adverse weather conditions during times of travel of site </li><li>May work indoors or outdoors </li><li>Exposure to hazardous situations, conditions and equipment that results in cuts, bruises or minor burns </li><li>Work inside enclosed vehicles or cramped workspaces underneath vehicles </li><li>Regularly wear protective gear, such as goggles, safety glasses, earplugs, or gloves </li><li>Exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers on a daily basis </li><li>Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable on a daily basis </li><li>Sometimes exposed to inadequate lighting conditions </li><li>Will sometimes work in cold or hot temperatures </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours as required </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Requires close visual acuity when operating a computer </li><li>Must be able to drive a motor vehicle </li><li>Able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, crawl, and reach above their head. </li><li>Must be able to communicate with others and comprehend instructions </li><li>Requires light lifting and carrying </li><li>Must be able to move around an office environment </li><li>May require sitting in front of, and operating, a computer for extended periods </li><li>Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases </li><li>Regularly required to work while sitting, standing, walking, and use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment </li></ul> <p>Travel</p> <ul> <li>Will be required to drive a company vehicle (failure to pass an annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background screen may result in termination of employment) </li></ul> <p>Supervision</p> <ul> <li>This position does not involve supervision of direct reports </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer: MTM is an equal opportunity employer.
