<p>Under general supervision, follows established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and identifying basic normal cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and lethal arrhythmias; reporting these findings to the appropriate personnel, and rhythm documentation and labeling per TGH policy. Promotes and maintains patient support including but not limited to: interprets and post rhythm strips and protocol, performs 12 lead EKGs. Maintain and clean portable telemetry monitors between patient use according to manufacturer's guidelines.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>· Accurately interprets changes in rhythms. </li><li>· Records rhythm strips as required. </li><li>· Demonstrates arrhythmia recognition skills. </li><li>· Communicates lethal arrhythmias to nursing staff and documents strips as requested. </li><li>· Maintains alarms on at all times with rates set safely to minimize false alarms. </li><li>· Identifies individual EKGs with proper patient identifiers. </li><li>· Works with the computer system, including Maintains flow through the ER and facilitates transfers, admissions and discharges timely. </li><li>· Answers telephone and intercom in a pleasant and professional manner and relays messages accurately and quickly. </li><li>· Reports any malfunction of monitoring equipment to the Biomedical Technicians, Charge Nurse, and Nursing Director. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li></ul> <p>Certification</p> <ul> <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Assocation or American Red Cross </li></ul> <p>Work Experience and Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>Basic EKG class and demonstration of competency through testing. </li></ul>
