<p>Description</p> <p>Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Medical Lab Scientist.</p> <p>Hours: Part-time PRN</p> <p>Essential Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, or spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal or abnormal components. </li><li>Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. </li><li>Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into computer for storage. </li><li>Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, or computer-controlled analyzers. </li><li>Establish or monitor quality assurance programs or activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. </li><li>Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. </li><li>Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, or researchers. </li><li>Collect and study blood samples to determine the number of cells, their morphology, or their blood group, blood type, or compatibility for transfusion purposes, using microscopic techniques. </li><li>Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Education: Successful completion of 4 year medical technologist program.</p> <p>Experience: Minimum two years of laboratory experience.</p> <p>Other Requirements: Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.</p> <p>Performance Requirements:</p> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, and tests. </li><li>Knowledge of use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments. </li><li>Knowledge of safety, infection control, and quality assurance policies and regulations. </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Skill in applying appropriate testing procedures. </li><li>Skill in proper use, preventive maintenance, and repair. </li><li>Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures. </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to exercise independent judgment, problem solve, make decisions, and use discretion in reporting/distributing results. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, and staff. </li><li>Ability to organize workload effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy using manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operated: Standard laboratory equipment and instrumentation.</p> <p>Work Environment: Laboratory unit, well lighted and temperature controlled. Exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions related to medical setting.</p> <p>Mental/Physical Requirements: Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping. May occasionally need to lift/carry 50 pounds. Some stress related to ensuring accuracy of work.</p>
