<p>Position Title: Homebound Teacher FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Responsible to: Building Principal Supervises: Students</p> <p>Evaluated by: Building Principal/Assistant Principal</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 3 hours per week</p> <p>February - May 2025</p> <p>As needed, based on the school's requirements.</p> <p>Evaluation Period:</p> <ul> <li>Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per WCS Performance and Assessment Procedures. </li><li>Annual summative evaluation prior to July 1. </li></ul> <p>Purpose of the Position:</p> <ul> <li>To deliver effective, high quality instruction that includes rigor and relevance in their content areas in an effort to produce measurable results of student achievement. Wa-Nee Community Schools teachers will perform their duties and do whatever it takes for Wa-Nee students to learn. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements: The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job.</p> <ul> <li>Valid Indiana Teaching License </li><li>Strong organizational and leadership skills </li><li>Excellent communication skills both oral and written </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.</p> <ul> <li>Deliver standards-based instruction in assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) that ensures academic growth for all students </li><li>Master the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) </li><li>Develop daily and unit lesson plans and a scope and sequence that are thoughtful, goal- oriented and aligned with curriculum and carefully planned for substitute teachers when unable to attend school </li><li>Develop positive appropriate relationships with students, including explicit recognition of their growth (i.e., positive calls home, notes, etc.) </li><li>Consistently implement the school-wide student management policies within the classrooms and through the school campus </li><li>Regularly assess student mastery of key skills and concepts and use this data to differentiate instruction to meet student needs </li><li>Maintain accurate, thorough records of student achievement and behavioral performance and complete progress reports and grade card information promptly and as scheduled </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents and be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents and or guardians </li><li>Grow as a professional educator with classes/workshops for professional development </li><li>Ensure students' academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents </li><li>Maintain a neat, clean, and healthy classroom </li></ul> <p>Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the School Building Principals or Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education </li><li>Applicable software and applications </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, organize, and schedule priorities. </li><li>Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems. </li><li>Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters. </li><li>Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. </li><li>Tactfully and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff. </li><li>Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Used:</p> <ul> <li>General Office Equipment (computer, telephone, copier, fax machine). </li></ul> <p>Place Where Work is Performed:</p> <ul> <li>Assigned Wa-Nee Community School building </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. </li><li>Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch. </li><li>Must be able to hear and speak clearly. </li><li>Must be able to lift items of 20 lbs. regularly/50 lbs. occasionally. </li></ul> <p>How this Job Description was developed:</p> <p>This job description was developed by the HR Department.</p> <p>Wa-Nee Community Schools benefits include:</p> <p>245 Extra Curricular Positions available</p>
