<p>Description</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Snowcat and Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of Bogus Basin's fleet of snow grooming vehicles (PistenBully), snow removal equipment, utility vehicles, and general-use vehicles. This position plays a critical role in ensuring mountain operations run smoothly and safely across all seasons.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Inspect, diagnose, and repair snowcats, plow trucks, loaders, fleet vehicles, and small engines. </li><li>Maintain accurate logs of repairs, parts used, and service history. </li><li>Implement and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules. </li><li>Perform electrical system repairs including lighting, starting systems, and controls. </li><li>Execute basic welding and metal fabrication as needed. </li><li>Operate large machinery such as forklifts, snowcats, and plow trucks for testing and operation. </li><li>Communicate clearly with department heads regarding equipment status and repair timelines. </li><li>Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment. </li><li>Follow all department and company safety protocols and practices. </li></ul> <p>Non-Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Assist with traffic control, guest vehicle jump-starts, and fuel needs during peak season. </li><li>Support interdepartmental or mountain-wide special projects as assigned. </li><li>Other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 2 years' experience in mechanical repair or equivalent technical training </li><li>Working knowledge of diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, and hydrostatic systems </li><li>Welding and cutting experience (acetylene preferred) </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding outdoor environments </li><li>Valid drivers license </li><li>Basic computer skills for diagnostics and documentation </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent (GED or vocational certification) </li><li>Ability to pass a driver background check </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Indoor/outdoor work environment at high elevation </li><li>Exposure to snow, ice, wind, and varying weather conditions </li><li>Occasional local travel for parts or equipment transport </li><li>Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call shifts during peak operations </li><li>Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and use of hand/power tools </li></ul> <p>Schedule & Compensation</p> <p>Full-time year-round position</p> <p>Regular schedule varies by season; includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays</p> <p>Hourly wage: $25.00-$35.00, depending on experience and certifications</p> <p>Overtime is paid after 56 hours/week in compliance with FLSA seasonal recreation rules</p> <p>Compensation & Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary commensurate with experience </li><li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance </li><li>401(k) plan with company match </li><li>Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays </li><li>Free season pass for employee + dependent discounts </li><li>Retail, food, and rental discounts </li><li>Access to industry partner perks and training opportunities </li></ul> <p>About Bogus Basin</p> <p>Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable, accessible, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education.
