<p>Introduction</p> <p>The Maryland State Retirement Agency (the "Agency") is the administrator of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System (the "System").? The System is a multi-employer, public employees' benefit retirement system composed of twelve (12) separate retirement and pension systems with additional plan components, covering approximately 205,000 active members and more than 175,000 retirees and beneficiaries.?\n\n\nThe Agency is seeking an investment compliance professional to serve as Senior Compliance Analyst in the Investment Division.? The Senior Compliance Analyst reports directly to the Senior Compliance Manager. Under the direction of the Senior Compliance Manager, the Senior Compliance Analyst will assist in monitoring external and internal investment managers for ongoing due diligence and investment guideline compliance monitoring, administration of the ethics, conflicts of interest, material non-public information and personal trading policies, regulatory monitoring and reporting, and policy development.\n\n\nThe Agency's Investment team drives results through creative problem solving, working together to manage a global multi-asset portfolio and to provide a secure base of assets to pay the current and future benefits for the underlying retirees and beneficiaries.? Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21202\n</p> <p>Main Purpose of Job</p> <p>Ensures that the integrity of the established investment compliance framework is maintained, policies and procedures are implemented as intended, and an awareness of rules, laws, regulations and the necessity for compliance exists.\n\n\nServes as an independent reviewer and evaluator to ensure that compliance issues / concerns are being appropriately monitored, evaluated, investigated, resolved and communicated.\n\n\nHelps establishes overall compliance program goals, standards and controls to meet objectives.\n</p> <p>POSITION DUTIES</p> <p>\nMonitors\ncompliance with investment guidelines of external and internal investment\nmanagers for all applicable asset classes.??\nPerforms\noperational due diligence and annual operational compliance monitoring of\nexternal managers and funds.?\nAssists\nin the administration of the Agency ethics, conflicts of interest, MNPI, and\npersonal trading policies.?\nAssists\nin monitoring and completing tasks related to regulatory reporting.?\nAssists\nin reviewing compliance with travel related rules, regulations and policies.?\nAssists\nin compiling data for Public Information Act requests as it relates to\ninvestment data.?\nContribute\nto the development of policies and procedures for the Investment Division.\n\n</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree.\n\n\nExperience: Two plus years of successful employment in legal, compliance or audit roles, preferably in the investment, financial, banking, accounting or insurance industries.\n</p> <p>DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications\nPreference will be given to candidates with:\n• Two plus years of experience performing investment\ncompliance responsibilities?\n• One plus years of experience with Bloomberg?\n• Two plus years of experience with investment compliance\nmonitoring systems?\n• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, complex\nformulas, large data sets)?\n• Knowledge and understanding of security-type\nclassifications, derivatives, indexes, and portfolio characteristics such as\ncredit quality, duration, weights, and allocations.?\n</p> <p>SELECTION PROCESS</p> <p>Please make sure that you provide sufficient information on your application to show that you meet the qualifications for this recruitment.
