<p>Now Hiring</p> <p>End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer</p> <p>Location: Greenville, Michigan</p> <p>Reports to: Quality Manager</p> <p>Employment Status: Hourly non-exempt</p> <p>Middleby Refrigeration is seeking a hands-on and technically strong End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for validating the functional performance, safety, and reliability of refrigeration products at final assembly.</p> <p>The End-of-Line Test Engineer serves as the technical authority for product testing, failure isolation, and test process improvement, ensuring that units leaving the factory meet engineering specifications and customer expectations.</p> <p>This position bridges Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering by diagnosing failures, identifying root causes, improving test methods, and preventing repeat defects - not just detecting them. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts. Overtime may be required based on business needs.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer is responsible for validating refrigeration product performance at final assembly and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and acceptance criteria.</p> <p>This role focuses on structured failure diagnostics, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of test processes to improve first-pass yield, reduce repeat failures, and prevent warranty escapes.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Testing & Validation</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform and oversee end-of-line (EOL) testing of refrigeration systems</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct component checks</p> </li><li> <p>Verify electrical loads and confirm acceptable current draw limits</p> </li><li> <p>Validate control board functionality</p> </li><li> <p>Perform safety and wiring validation</p> </li><li> <p>Verify unit performance against engineering specifications and acceptance criteria</p> </li></ul> <p>Diagnostics & Troubleshooting</p> <ul> <li> <p>Identify abnormal operating conditions (restriction, undercharge, overcharge, airflow issues)</p> </li><li> <p>Diagnose failing units using structured troubleshooting methodology</p> </li><li> <p>Prevent unnecessary part replacement by verifying true root failure cause</p> </li><li> <p>Support technicians and production with proper repair direction</p> </li></ul> <p>Root Cause & Continuous Improvement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead root cause analysis for repeat EOL failures and field returns</p> </li><li> <p>Track defect trends in Power BI and escalate systemic issues</p> </li><li> <p>Provide engineering feedback for design or process improvements</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and improve EOL test procedures and standards</p> </li><li> <p>Support development of automated test sequences and error detection logic</p> </li><li> <p>Improve fault detection capability (capture true failures, reduce false failures)</p> </li></ul> <p>Training, Documentation & Data Analysis</p> <ul> <li> <p>Train operators on proper test interpretation and troubleshooting</p> </li><li> <p>Assist NPI builds and pilot runs to establish test criteria</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain test documentation, reports, and failure records</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze test data to identify trends and early failure indicators</p> </li><li> <p>Support warranty and reliability analysis</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>3-7+ years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, appliance manufacturing, or similar electromechanical environments</p> </li><li> <p>Strong electrical troubleshooting skills</p> </li><li> <p>Experience diagnosing mechanical and sealed refrigeration system issues</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics</p> </li><li> <p>Hands-on experience with meters, gauges, and diagnostic test equipment</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC/R, or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in manufacturing test engineering, validation, or quality environments</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of refrigeration cycle performance and system behavior</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with root cause methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Isolation)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience collaborating with production teams and technicians</p> </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li> <p>Electrical diagnostics (AC/DC circuits, loads, shorts, opens)</p> </li><li> <p>Refrigeration system performance analysis, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Compressor behavior</p> </li><li> <p>Identifying restriction vs. leak vs. inefficiency</p> </li><li> <p>Airflow and heat transfer effects</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics</p> </li><li> <p>Data analysis and failure trend identification</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Excel and technical documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred: Experience creating and managing Power BI reports</p> </li></ul> <p>If interested in the position, Click here to Apply!</p>
