<p>LEAN MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR - MARINE ENGINES</p> <p>Step into a leadership role at the heart of our marine engine production operation. In this fast-paced and highly visible role, you will own the day-to-day performance of our marine engine value stream: leading teams, driving results, and ensuring world-class quality in every inboard and outboard motor we build.</p> <p>In this role, you'll combine hands-on leadership with lean manufacturing expertise to improve flow, reduce waste, and elevate safety, productivity, and quality. You'll coach and develop team members, solve real-time production challenges, and create visibility from raw materials to finished power units. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.</p> <p>Key Details:</p> <ul> <li>Location: New Hudson, MI </li><li>Position Type: Salaried, Exempt </li><li>Pay Periods: Biweekly </li><li>Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift only </li><li>Compensation: Commensurate with experience </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Operational Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee day-to-day production activities for our marine engine production team </li><li>Ensure production schedules, takt time targets, and customer delivery requirements are consistently met. </li><li>Maintain real-time visibility of work-in-process, bottlenecks, and throughput. </li></ul> <p>Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:</p> <ul> <li>Identify and lead kaizen events, root-cause problem solving, and waste-reduction initiatives. </li><li>Implement and sustain lean tools such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and value stream mapping. </li><li>Monitor KPIs and drive actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. </li></ul> <p>Team Leadership & Development:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise, coach, and develop production team members. </li><li>Conduct performance evaluations and support skill-building and cross-training. </li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>Quality & Safety:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Address non-conformances and implement corrective actions. </li><li>Promote a zero-defect mindset and safe work environment. </li></ul> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Quality to resolve issues and optimize flow. </li><li>Participate in planning meetings to align capacity, staffing, and material needs. </li><li>Communicate production status, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering or similar </li><li>Experience in manufacturing supervision or team leadership. </li><li>Strong understanding of internal combustion engines: how they work, components </li><li>Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles. </li><li>Ability to lead teams and manage performance. </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Background in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or low-volume/high-complexity manufacturing. </li><li>Experience with value stream mapping or managing end-to-end production flow. </li><li>Lean or Six Sigma certifications. </li></ul> <p>Success Looks Like:</p> <ul> <li>Stable, predictable production flow. </li><li>Engaged team with clear performance ownership. </li><li>Continuous improvement initiatives delivering measurable results. </li><li>Strong alignment across production, quality, and supply chain. </li><li>Safe, clean, and organized work environment. </li></ul>
