</li><li>Coordinates, plans and manages unit activities; </li><li>Formulates program goals and objectives; </li><li>Develops or assists in development of related policy; </li><li>Interprets and administers applicable statutes and regulations; </li><li>Evaluates staff; </li><li>Maintains contacts with individuals within and outside of the agency who might impact program activities; </li><li>Ensures development of resources necessary to conduct training programs and provide technical assistance in implementing services; </li><li>Manages accounting and funding for major unit; </li><li>Works closely with regional and training school directors and assistant directors in service development, planning and implementation; </li><li>Develops budget components related to staff and service development activities, projecting costs of implementing programs; </li><li>Monitors and evaluates departmental implementation of programs and services to determine need for additional resources, training or support; </li><li>relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; </li><li>training and development principles, methods and techniques; </li><li>Knowledge of </li><li>current trends and practices regarding provision of integrated, supportive community based services to individuals with an intellectual disability; </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Eight (8) years of experience in the provision of human service or education programs.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity with primary responsibility for planning, developing or coordinating services or programs.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED</p> <ul> <li>College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. </li><li>A Master's degree in public administration or a behavioral science such as psychology, rehabilitation therapy or social work may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with/supporting individuals and families with varying demographics and needs within Connecticut's diverse communities </li><li>Experience with the daily operations of out-of-home and in-home residential programs and specialized services. </li><li>Experience supervising, training, directing staff, and conflict resolution in various labor unions and professional levels </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of the DDS Mission and Vision as well as Charting the Life Course. </li><li>Knowledge of Assistive Technology and its utilization within the delivery of supports and services. </li><li>Experience using a quality monitoring system to assess the effectiveness of supports and assure desired results are being achieved for individuals supported;
