<p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Library Agency Manager in coordinating and supervising staff members and functions of the public service desks within all areas of the library. Supports Memphis Public Library & Information Center (MPLIC) policies, goals and objectives. Develops and implements library agency goals and strategic plans. Supervises staff including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and appropriate disciplinary action in consultation with the Library Agency Manager. Coordinates the collection of books, audio-visual materials, etc., with system-wide and library agency staff. Develops and provides training for staff, volunteers and the public. Prepares payroll reports, employee schedules, leave approval forms, and related personnel actions. Prepares, plans, coordinates and/or presents special projects, workshops, programs and exhibits for staff and public. Provides information services, reader's advisory, and general assistance in library usage using print resources as well as computer databases, Internet, specialized files and collections. Participates in and facilitates library agency and system-wide committees as well as community outreach activities. Monitors the physical condition of the facilities and equipment for damages, security and safety standards, and submit reports of impairment and safety, if necessary. Creates and compiles various reports. Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with volunteers, management, and staff on a variety of issues and concerns.</p> <p>OTHER FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Acts as Agency Manager in his or her absence as needed. </li><li>Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the use of general office equipment, such as computers and telephones. Requires lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs., such as books, supplies, etc., traversing throughout the building, bending, stooping and reaching.</p> <p>TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a library environment. Occasional travel to meetings across the City and out-of-town may be required. Some evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required.</p> <p>Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school and one (1) year of related professional library experience; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university and two (2) years of related professional library experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>Posting Date: Mar 19, 2025 </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>Minimum Salary: US Dollar (USD) 46,025.73 </li><li>Maximum Salary : US Dollar (USD) 69,950.4 </li><li>Pay Basis: Yearly </li></ul>
