We stay ahead to create the new standards our future needs with our key accelerators Climate Response, Data Solutions & Consulting/Advisory.</p> <p>As Corporate Counsel, International Trade Compliance and Federal, you will have a dual role within the Jacobs Legal, Risk and Compliance Department. You will support Jacobs and its U.S. affiliates with strategic and daily export and import compliance, compliance with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other applicable sanctions programs, and compliance with U.S. Anti-boycott laws. These activities include matters relating to U.S. Trade Regulations including, but not limited to, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Regulations, and Nuclear Regulations. You will be reviewing and continuously evaluating policies and procedures to ensure continuing compliance with the above listed laws and regulations along with assisting with the development and dissemination of export, import, and anti-corruption compliance tools and training materials to U.S. affiliates. You will also develop a working knowledge of export and import control laws and regulations of other countries, including the U.K. and Australia.</p> <p>You will also provide counsel to operations and sales, acting as a legal advisor and business partner to Jacobs' business operations and its leadership. The role will include significant, hands-on support of Federal, state and municipal projects, including project pursuits, contract negotiations, bid protests, project delivery, subcontractor issues, claims management, corporate compliance, risk management, and internal counseling and education. Duties will specifically include advising on all aspects of contracting, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), cost and pricing issues, compliance programs, and representations and certifications.</p> <p>This position requires a high aptitude for and excellence in the following core competencies, amongst others:</p> <ul> <li>Legal skills: accuracy and precision, legal drafting, legal research, outside counsel management, and risk awareness </li><li>Strategic skills: critical thinking, decision making and judgment, project management, strategic focus, workload management </li><li>Collaboration skills: communication skills, conflict navigation, knowledge management, team player, technology skills, ability to give practical and clear advice </li><li>Client management skills: business and analytical skills, business partnership, client advisory, responsiveness, solutions orientation </li><li>Additional skills: desire to grow personally and professionally, ability to work independently, leadership, networking, curiosity and a desire to learn, negotiation, vendor management, persuasiveness, and global perspective </li></ul> <p>This position will report into the Legal, Risk and Compliance Department, and you will work closely with team members in the Legal Ethics & Compliance and Operations Counsel teams from across the globe. The role can be aligned to any Jacobs office in the US (Hybrid/Remote)</p> <p>We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.</p> <p>Here's what you'll need</p> <ul> <li>J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and/or an active bar license in good standing to practice law in a U.S. state or the District of Columbia, and a solid academic background </li><li>At least 3 -5 years' prior experience, either with a law firm or as in-house counsel, preferably with a large engineering, program management and/or construction firm, with a focus (including if on a specialty basis) on U..S. export and import compliance, compliance with OFAC and other applicable export / import / sanctions programs (e.g., ITAR, EAR, FTR, FCPA, Customs and Nuclear regulations), and compliance with U.S. anti-boycott laws </li><li>Must be a "U.S. person" for purposes of export / import control laws in the U.S., meaning a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident (e.g., a green card holder) or an admittee to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee </li><li>History of developing and implementing successful export / import and sanctions strategies, programs and policies </li><li>Ability to travel, including internationally, as needed </li></ul> <p>Ideally you will also have:</p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting Federal contracting and operations, including advising on all aspects of federal contracting, including federal procurement regulations, FAR and DFAR, professional liability, general liability, pollution, and builder's risk insurance, bid protests, and prime contract and subcontract negotiation, or equivalent general experience on a U.S. state, local and private commercial contracting basis </li><li>Genuine ability and willingness to support Jacobs' values, including demonstrated ability to live inclusion </li><li>An elevated level of curiosity, humility and willingness to be a forward looking, global thinker </li><li>Ability to adapt to the nuance and complexity associated with the in-house counsel role and the evaluation of company risks in order to provide practical advice and counsel to internal stakeholders </li><li>Ability to counsel senior management and business leaders </li><li>Competence to synthesize voluminous facts and information down to essential and pertinent facts for the issue at hand </li><li>Exceptional work ethic to meet the evolving demands of a growing and ever-changing enterprise </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Skill to adapt behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles and ability to effectively deal with pressure and ambiguity </li><li>Aptitude and demeanor to deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations </li><li>Capability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make sound, well informed and unbiased recommendations </li><li>Adeptness to manage complex matters, with competing demands and multiple initiatives going on simultaneously </li><li>Ability to counsel contract management and procurement staff </li></ul> <p>Posted Salary Range: Minimum</p> <p>175,000.00</p> <p>Posted Salary Range: Upper</p> <p>200,000.00</p> <p>Jacobs' health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
