<p>The BCH Outpatient Psychiatry Department is in an exciting phase of growth and transformation. We are expanding our services and specialties to better meet the needs of children, adolescents, and families seeking high-quality mental health care. Our program has grown into a state-of-the-art behavioral health sciences center, serving patients across a wide range of diagnoses and clinical needs.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>As an Intake Coordinator, you would play a vital role in this expansion by serving as a key point of connection for families at the start of their care journey. This period of growth offers meaningful opportunities for learning, collaboration, and professional development as we continue to strengthen and evolve our operation - making this an ideal role for someone who is organized, compassionate, and motivated to grow within a dynamic behavioral health setting.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Schedule and triage appointments for new behavioral health patients, coordinating with clinicians, families, and clinic locations in accordance with departmental guidelines </li><li>Screen referrals and patient needs, assigning cases to appropriate clinicians and supporting case management workflows </li><li>Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, referral, and behavioral health insurance information into EPIC </li><li>Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and review benefits, copays, and out-of-pocket costs with caregivers </li><li>Screen patients for service appropriateness and escalate clinical or logistical concerns as needed </li><li>Distribute and track electronic intake forms and manage waitlists </li><li>Answer, screen, and route phone calls; de-escalate families in crisis and triage urgent requests </li><li>Monitor and respond to electronic communications from families and clinicians </li><li>Create patient registrations and appointment requests in EPIC </li><li>Support front-desk Patient Experience Representative functions as needed, including check-in and waiting room monitoring </li><li>Collaborate with interdisciplinary OPS team members to support patient care goals and promote a team-oriented environment </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned, including support during public health emergencies </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>At least one year of experience in a healthcare, administrative, or patient-facing role preferred </li></ul> <p>Schedule</p> <ul> <li>M-F: 40 hours/week. 100% in person </li></ul> <p>The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.</p> <p>Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
