<p>Job Title GRADUATE ASSISTANT - Sports Programs - Campus Recreation & Wellness Department Campus Recreation and Wellness Essential Functions</p> <p>The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the individual within this classification. They are not to be considered an exhaustive or all-inclusive listing of the position's duties and tasks, as they may change or be adjusted, as situations require.</p> <p>The Graduate Assistant of Sports Programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will have the opportunity to learn, practice and develop skills that lead to becoming an excellent candidate for a career in recreation. This role will assist in the leadership of Sports Programs. Applicants must have experience and knowledge in Sports Programming and at least one of the following areas: Sport Clubs (preferred) recreation field management and field marking, and special event booking and supervision. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to gain experience in other areas of interest (i.e. Intramural and/or Adaptive Sports.) Graduate Assistants receive a monthly stipend and work an average of 20 hours/week while being enrolled in an academic Graduate Program at UNO.</p> <p>Sport Clubs: This position helps provide leadership and performs organizational duties to assure the successful operation of a comprehensive collegiate Sports Club program (8-10 clubs.) Assist in the developing, promoting, and evaluating a welcoming Sport Club program. Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of university club equipment. Assist clubs in securing and scheduling practice facilities, club travel, and planning and implementing successful tournaments and special events. Familiarization with national governing bodies. Assist in the creation and leading of annual and ongoing Sports Club officer training and development.</p> <p>Recreation Fields: Develop, train and schedule Recreation Field Supervisors and manage daily tasks at the UNO Recreation Fields for campus users and renters. Assist in maintenance of field equipment, field setup, and other related projects.</p> <p>Event Supervision: Develop, train and schedule Special Event Supervisors for Campus Recreation and Wellness Special Events.</p> <p>Work Schedule Varies and can include mornings, afternoon and/or evenings as well as potentially weekends. Additional Duties</p> <p>Other duties related to your appointment may be assigned in the course of your employment.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in related field or extensive experience in Campus Recreation. </li><li>Acceptance in a University of Nebraska at Omaha graduate degree program. </li><li>Desire to mentor and collaborate with college students. </li><li>Previous Campus Recreation leadership/supervisory experience. </li><li>Experience in staff development and event/program planning/management. </li><li>Leadership and supervisory skills. </li><li>Adut CPR/AED & First Aid certification. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in collegiate sport club operations. Able to serve as an advisor and trainer to sport club officers. </li><li>Familiarity with sport liability and risk management. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
